Went to Norwalk today for a shakedown on my new pte built stock block motor. After running several 10.00's with the a/f in the 10.5 range, pulled some fuel out and ran some 9.90's @ 135 with 23 pounds of boost. I hope to work out the fat spots in the program to knock a few more tenths out of it before the nats and qualify in the quick 16.

Congratulations Dave. We'll be seeing you soon.

Did you see Kurts Mustang there today? He should have been running low 9's with his renegade car.

Congrats!

Are these Champion iron heads or GN1 aluminums??
Running 9.90's @135mph with only 23lbs of boost is pretty damn amazing!!! I wonder how long the stock 109 block will last at that level?? Also, what kind of 60' times are you getting on these 9.90 passes?? Please tell us more cause it's not everyday you hear about a stock block car going that fast!!!! :D

Thanks Ted, We were pitted next to that mustang. I am not sure what they ran I thought Mick told me they had a fire at the starting line. Maybe he can jump in here to give you some details.

Ditto!!:D Congrats on the times, but please spill some more details. What kind of cam is in this motor? Along with any other worthy details. What was the DA, air temp, etc..That sounds like a serious runner you have there...

The heads are gn1 alum. My 60's were in the low 1.40's. I have many passes on my old stock block, crank, rod, girdle motor running 9.90's to 10.20's @ 135, the motor is still alive awaiting new heads. The key to making them last is a quality build and a good tune.

Congrats Dave

Way to go Dave. Should have given me a call I would have met you up there, didn't have much going on today at work. Glad to hear you got it flyin' first time out. I am sure there is more to come if needed. See you at Norwalk in a couple weeks if I don't hear from you before then. Later Dave England

I am not exactly sure on the complete cam specs I think it is in the 218 range and it is a comp roller. The air temp was in the 50's with a 20 mph head wind which was a nice ram air effect.

Ted,
There were a few mustangs running. What color was it? If it was dark blue, black and NOS motor with a 300 shot, that car went 9.30, that I saw.

Timing is 24 degrees. 3560 with me in it, cylinders 4,5,6 were in the 1750 range 1,2,3 were in the 1650 range. I want work on the high ones before I crank it up. Dan is the man behind this creation, I am just along for the ride
:D

Geno you will always be the109 king ;)

Your more than a shoe behind Dans motor:)
You were fast before you ever installed Dans creation:D
Keep us posted

That is really, really impressive Dave.

A lot of people, including myself, have wondered how far the 109 block can be pushed, and for how long. Since you're so experienced with tuning and Dan is so experienced with engine building I'll bet you'll be the new kid on the block (pun intended .. lol ) to raise the proverbial bar.

Congrats again.

wow that is awesome...you are one of only 3 people that i know of that have done 9.9x on the stock block...i never knew our motors were that strong...sheesh it's not everyday you can get a factory block into those kinds of times on most ANY car
