I bought a 107t cam kit from postons, and he was pushing the adj push rods so I told him only if he cut me a deal. So he knocked off $10 with the kit. Anyways.. I have never intalled these. I know there some extra hp in these.
I am doing a swap into a 87 760 volvo wagon and only have worked on the 2.3 ltr turbos.

? Where can I find out how to set these up at. on the web? Or you can e-mail me instead. AT: volvo_man@juno.com

Thanks for any info, you guys have always been pretty good to me.

Do as you please but most decent builders or known racers will tell you to use the correct length pushrods and I agree. They are great to check for the proper length, then order the proper length and throw them in the tool box. JMHO.

I just put a set in my motor this week. If your valve stems are not equal its really the only option to get a true .035 preload. Yeah you can measure and then take a average across the board and order a set but you will make more power having them all set to spec. With proper install you will not have to worry about then coming loose, not going to happen. The pushrod uses the same type lock system that Suzuki uses on the GSXR bikes. I have never had any trouble from them and just tuned one this week to 190+ rwhp.

As far as install....

Take the rocker rails off and put a .035 shim under them and put them back on. Make sure you torque to spec. Adjust for zero lash. Take the rails back off, remove the shims, reinstall, torque to spec, turn the motor over a few times, recheck and your done. Its that simple.

.035 = better top end
.030 = better low to mid range

I've had the adjustables on mine and ended up throwing them away after one of the adjusters broke off in my lap:eek: Plus the adjustable "tip" never seems to turn freely enough to get a good feel when your at zero lash, so you may be at plus or minus a few thousanths. There really no horsepower in pushrods, just differences in weight, and durability, and the adjustables fail at both. Get the proper length by using a pushrod checking tool, or go to adjustable roller rockers, but thats some big bucks. The usual spec for hydraulic lifters is between .020 and .045 preload. Mark

Your valve should be equal in height. If you want adjustment a roller rocker setup is a better choice. Why didn't you go that route (plus they give 10 HP where pushrods do not). If you go to www.cvproducts.com call them and ask about adjustable pushrods (they supply NASCAR) and they will tell you adjustables are for checking, that is it.
