Here is my question, I have the rod that adjusts the length and I have been playing with the boost up and down and I notice that the threads are running out when I turned it up intercooler 003.JPG .. Is this common?

Your adjustable rod will get shorter as you turn the boost up, this is normal. If you run out of threads then you cut off about a quarter inch and start over until desired boost is achieved.

How much boost are you able to generate?
How much would you like to generate?

The more exhaust pressure you have the more you need to increase the tension on the wastegate. More power (mass flow) means higher ex pressure. Higher ex pressure is typical when you attempt to extract power.

And the more pounds per square inch of pressure in the exhaust, the greater the force trying to push the puck open when you enlarge the wastegate hole which exposes more square inches of puck to the pressure. Adding an external spring is a simple way of adding force to keep the puck closed which allows more boost.
