Yesterday, my beloved outdoor cat, Morris, was shot with a paintball gun. He had purple paint on his left side, splattered everywhere. What really was sad was he was limping greatly. I checked for broken bones, etc., and cleaned off the paint.

I'm furious. I know by the previous posts here on Turbo Lounge how much you guys love your dogs...and cats. I can see that you are a true group of caring guys to animals.....very much filled with compassion. To which I truly salute you for.

So, hence, this post. Of course, the LAW protects whoever did this cowardly deed, I can't do a damn thing and I can't prove who did it. My neighborhood only consists of 12 homes, so, it's relatively small. But, being surrounded by miles of woods, it could have happened further away.

I'm keeping my temper in check, but, man, it has made me furious! Has this ever happened to your pets? Some ******* shooting, kicking, hitting or injuring your beloved pets? If so, tell me about it, so I'll know I'm not alone. There's a special place in hell for these cowards, I can guarantee you that. Look at the picture of my Morris....he's the most lovable cat in the world. My wife is crazy about him and so am I. He was homeless for three years, living in the woods all by himself, enduring snowstorms, cold, ice, rain, sweltering summers before we took him in, and I'm thankful we did.

Good lookin pus.... Can't do it ;) As far as the losers.... They are the ones that will be driving down the road one day and need to stop...oh but wait, what's that? Bruce cut the brake lines? Darnit.....

More than likely a teenager. With that few houses on your street you might be able to narrow down to a few suspects. We have two cats we got from a shelter and they stay inside the house at all times. Keeps them away from predators, cars and people like yours ran up against. They both spent enough time on the streets to appreciate just staying in the house.

We do have a couple strays that we feed on our deck every day for the past 3 years but they were a bit too wild to take in. I draw the line at 2 house cats. We had the strays captured thru the shelter my wife volunteers at and had the male cat fixed and both got shots. Also bought them an igloo for some shelter during the winter.

Yeah, I am a softie, just don't tell anyone.

Glad that Morris survived!
My shop cat, Miss Goodwrench, wasn't so lucky.
The neighbor's rottie/mutt x breeds got her. I go there too late, as she was already dead...
About 10 mins later so was the mutt.
That neighbor had been warned several times about the dogs running loose.[had killed an elderly lady's "chiwawa", and a couple other cats.] No more warnings..The mutt ran head on into a +p hollow point. His carcass ended up on the owners driveway....

Miss Goodwrench :(. That is horrible! I have a shop lizard that sits on my shoulders and wrenches with me. Hes pretty chill, except when he wants to actually help and climbs up the wrench ;). Anyways, I have friends who used to shoot cats, dogs, and all those kinds of animals with BB Guns, or anything they got their hands on. I have never once, and always walked away or went home when they started. I just don't understand why you would be so cruel to an animal..

Anyways, here is a picture of Scorch (aka Wrencher).

There's nothing you can do about it, legally, if you find out who it is anyway. Even the most severe animal cruelty charges are a misdemeanor in most states. This little girl was found by a couple kids in the botom of a trash can near death. Mange took just about every hair off her body and she was covered in sores. This picture was a couple weeks ago, she's doing very well and should fully recover.

It's sad what happened to your cat, hope it's OK. I have two kittys and love them dearly, but I keep them inside to protect them from "bad" things.

Sorry to hear about Morris. At least he's ok... Could have been worse.

It's unfortunate that these oxygen thieves are allowed to continue to live when they do these terrible things to helpless victims...

I have contacted ALDF (Animal Legal Defense Fund) and usually get into letter writing to prosecutors, judges, and legislators who help to decide the fate of these scumbags.

Only way to stop it is to speak out and let people know that doing this is unacceptable.

I think these people should be punished by having the same torture done to them. Might teach people to think about things.

A few weeks ago someone threw a border collie out of a car window on the highway near Louisville, KY, dog has undergone 2 surgeries and is still in recovery. Reward money has been donated by citizens and last I heard was up to $8k!!! I hope that catch the idiots who would do something like this.

So sorry to hear about Morris. I live out in the desert and I do not let my cats outside. One is a rescue that only has 3 legs and she was an outdoor cat. There are too many coyotes, snakes and then the kids with bb guns and I have something they don't... a wristrocket and I am almost deadly with it. They never hear the "shot" and I can exact revenge and have had to twice already for shooting at my house and a punk who asked if I "wanted some". I hate these kids who don't think anything of doing harm to others and can just laugh it off.

I’m sorry this happened to you and I glad it was not worse. I’ve seen things similar to this in my area. I think people get mad that the animal is in their yard and rather than speaking to the owner of the animal they take the coward approach and harm and innocent pet. My neighbor’s cat was recently harmed this summer. They let their car roam and apparently someone tried to send a message. It made no sense to me. I don’t like other dogs in my yard taking a dump or cats using my kids sand box as a litter box. However, I would never harm the animal. I think it’s an owner issue not an animal issue. If I don’t care to take the time or energy to address the owner than I need to live with it.

Aside from ethical hunters, anyone who intentionally tortures or kills innocent animals deserves the same treatment as those that torture or kill children. Give me a Louisville Slugger and send them into the room one by one. I could go for days.

You and I could get along!

When I get a call for criminal mischief involving paintballs, I take a walk through the neighborhood. Usually you will find a house/area that the punks who shot your cat had dropped their paintballs. And when you find the punks, is up to you what you're going to do next. ;)
