I know its not an easily answered question but I cant seem to keep from blowing a fuse in the dome light, PDL, radio fuse slot. That’s one slot. Is there something that is common to check on a GN? I first blew a fuse and replaced it and it lasted for a couple hours. I put another fuse in and it blows right away now.

Bigger fuse Chris!

Check the wire going to the gear selector indicator light in the console. Grey wire I think entering the front of the console. Something else also may have been wired into this circuit, alarm maybe?

Bigger fuse Chris!

OK I put a 25 in place of the 20 and it seems to be holding. Is that a bad fix if it lasts? No alarm on the car. I did notice about two weeks ago mysteriously the light on the shifter console decided to work on its own. Maybe you’re on to something there. I will tear it apart and see what I can find.

Thanks Nick

DO NOT PUT A BIGGER FUSE THAN WHATS IT RECCOMENDED!!!!!!!!!

The fuse your talking it power for the radio (constant) power door, domelite and cigarette lighter. I would check the cigarette lighter first because that the most common problem. Do you use the lighter alot? The center is probally grounding out inside. You can unplug the lighter and see if the problem persists.

The gray wire you are mentioning is not the same fuse you're talking about, its going to the the illumation fuse that going to blow.

I agree with turbov6 on the cig. lighter. If you use the lighter alot the socket it's probably worn out. I put a little piece of electrical tape between the center post contacts and the sides to keep future contact from happening again and it works just fine. Of couse I don't smoke, so it would probably melt if you tried to heat up the lighter itself.

DO NOT PUT A BIGGER FUSE

Well it didn’t work any way. I made it almost to work and the 25 blew. I don’t use my cig lighter at all. In fact I don’t have a lighter in the socket either. It’s real strange. I got on the boost this morning and that’s when it blew (not that it matters because it blows when the car isn’t even running). The radio kind of has power. It stops emitting sound and gives me just static and the lights led panel displays a whole mess of stuff. Its like it kind of has some power if you know what I mean. This is driving me nuts.

Get a test light and put the ground side to 12v and the probe side to the car side of the terminal of the fuse terminal (to find this there is two terminals on the fuse one will be 12v constant and the other side will be to the accessories) if there is something shorting out the test light will light showing there is a short. Then you start you troubleshooting, wiggling wire until the light shuts off.

Nine out of ten times it is either the console light wire or the cigarette lighter receptable.
