Track had issues all day. Seems that Bill had a section removed and re-paved a few weeks ago. There was an 8 hour meeting with the contractor about what type of asphalt to put down. Well, long story short, they messed it up...BIG TIME!!! The asphalt is too porous and with the serious amount of rain they have had, it was letting the ground water seep up thru and it was actually "bubbling" on the surface because of the heat. The track dryer was out there for over 2 hours and it got to the point that alot of people were leaving. I stayed and saw the Top Alcohol Funny Car go down, but even they shut it down at less the 1/8 mile. NORWALK will def be suing to get this mistake fixed. If this was NHRA weekend, they would have lost the TV programming and had to issue refunds. There is no way they would let 250-300 mph passes on that surface. All in all, for the racers, it was a sad situation.

Not sure on tsm numbers but it was JW and Bob S in the finals.
I think we were in last place with a 12.8? @ 137.:(
The track sucked and it was hot out. Nobody was hooking.

How many cars were in TSM? Did Phil end up going? Last I talked to him he was on the fence.

I heard about a problem with the track on yb, I made the decision to take it off the schedule.

There were 5 tsm cars. Phil never got his heads in time but will be running soon. It was Tim, JW, Tom R, Steve P and Bob S.
It really was alot of fun even though we lost our converter 1st round of qualifying thanks to that scramble button I was against hooking up.

Dammm !!! only 13 cars showed up or were there other classes? I thought there were a lot of guys close to Norwalk ..

There was alot of cars in other classes. I think the chance of rain play's a be part in anybodys decision to travel.
I know I looked every day till Saturday before we decided. The place was pretty packed all in all.

I'm not sure where the information on the track issues yesterday came from but they are not totally correct.

Ths had 6 racers in qualifying but only 4 showed for eliminations. One was due to engine issues and the other guy must have missed the announcement I'm assuming.
Anyways, I had fun and the track crew at norwalk is top notch.

Lisa, thanks! See you at bg:)

We showed for TSO but broke a rocker shaft and didn't get to run the car:mad:

Still had a good time and looking forward to next year. Hopefully we will have TWO TSO style cars there. Thanks Roberta and Bill for putting on a first class event.

You nailed it Chris. The state of the art TSO (style) car is a far stretch from what the cars used to be. Liquids, ice cooled engines, turbos out the grille, pro-mod 88's, chassis guys showing up to the track, ect. All performance advantages. It gives even more credit to the old school guys like yourself for doing more with less....

I'll post TSM results in the TSM section this weekend, heading out to race today won't be home til late.

Ted... Wow, just wow.
