I spent way too much time as a child playing around on skateboards and healing wounds and injuries.
Thrasher was my favorite magazine, remember those stickers you could order out of the magazine?

After some major spills, i went back into Freestyle bikes, still have my Dyno Detour and Dyno Pro-Comp bikes from 86 and 87. Man those bikes were expensive back in the day!

I never got really good at freestyle, could do my share of tricks and jumps but nothing like these guys.

I like the fact that no skate/bmx war started on this thread. All you guys who used to skate or ride should pick it back up! I'm 34 and I still ride whenever I can-I just don't go quite as big as I used to. Even though I never skated much, I've always really respected it. And I love the artwork on the boards. I had a couple of the old whaletails, but I gave them away like a dummy. For you bmx people, I have a Hoffman D130 and a DK S.O.B., and I still have my first "good" bike-'86 Mongoose Expert.

c'mon, all you skaters admit it, you prefered your veraflex over any other board. :p jk

Hardcore freestyler here from mid 80's to early 90's. my weapon of choice was a yellow and black kuwahara magician pro. God I wish I still had it for sentimentals sake. Makes me want to put in my vhs of "rad"

Veraflex hahaha... good ol Target special.

I was loyal to the bones birgade.. most of my decks were Powell with Indy trucks.. My first was a Caballero. We watch those videos and just get stoked. All of us built ramps in the back yard and would skate ALL day... ahhhh youth.

Vision street wear... Converse with duct tape.. fly ramps in the driveway.

One night I made the wife watch Animal Chin... it still holds up pretty good.

Target was around here.. but so was Venture.. that could've been the source too. Come to think of it, I remember seeing Rodney Mullen put on a show Venture..

I love that Redline Proline, hanging in your garage there. I used to own one just like that one!

Best BMX I ever had- Redline were simply awesome bikes.

Wanna sell it??

I lived and breathed BMX back in the early to mid 80s racing at various NJ tracks including Howell, Long Branch, Flemington and even Englishtown Raceway Park.

I still have my Red Line Pro Line hanging in the garage.

That was a good flick.
I remember going to a competition in Louisville back in the late 80's and sneaking up to the top of Commonwealth Convention Center and hanging out with Tony Hawk, Rob Roskopp, and a bunch of other skaters from that era. I was like 14 or 15 at the time and it was cool hanging out with the guys you would watch on video and read about in Thrasher and Transworld!!
Afterwards we went downtown and hit a couple of spots and hung out with some of them. Pretty cool indeed.

Bump for the post...

Thought I'd bump this one up... Just recently bought the aluminum Profile Rocket frame to build up for one of my boys...

Do you guys remember the movie "RAD"? Damn I loved that movie. I used to rock a sweet Dyno Nitro during my BMX era. Before that though, I was a skatin crazy kid! I skated with Lance Mountain, Steve Cabillero, Rob Rockopp, Natas, and a few other pro's at a place called Rotation Station in Rockford, IL. Ive got quite a few pictures with those guys! It's funny seeing me with my knee pads, wrist gaurds, helmet, and elbow pads flying through the air! It's amazing Tony is still around at this age!

I honestly couldnt tell you what riders were in it specifically but I have been looking all over for that movie and nobody sells it. That was the best movie of all time!

I had skateboards and BMX bikes in the 80s too. I miss the 80s. I rode in an brand new '87 GN at a local dealership at the age of 7. My uncle had bought an '85 T-type and my dad bought an '86 GN in '89. The '86 becoming my car later on as seen in my sig..
