Any recent carrier sailors?

Anybody on the board served on a carrier within the last 10-15 years? On the picture I've posted, it seems all the newer carriers have these things. They weren't on carriers when I served.

What are they??

oh Norfolk Naval station oh how I DONT miss you. Had a few good times made a ton of friends but being on a FFG definitely wasnt fun

Well, maybe, but I kinda doubt it. I've spent 23 years on destroyers and cruisers so I'm pretty familiar with "most" of the surface navy's anti sub equipment. Sure can't find anything in my research yet what they are.

It almost looks like some sort of cooling assembly Dave. Looks like there might be some sort of access to it as well if you blow the pic up. Can you get a bigger pic of it?

Got it!! From my source at NavSource. It's a structure to protect the stern when Liberby boats, utility barges, etc. have to moore back there.

Well sir I was on a torpedo sponge FFG.... so I was anti submarine for carriers.....Haha
