anyone using a cpt-66 ball bearing? i'm thinking of getting one for local 1/8 mile heads up racing. i'd like some feedback if possible. currently using a pt-70 p-trim and it takes a half hour to spool up.

What is your combination?
Chris and I ran a 70 P Trim on a couple 231 Iron headed motors and it cam up on boost just fine. We were using old school Art Carr 16930 (9inch non lock up)

I am sure that Cotton's Turbo would be nice, but I think you can make what you have work just fine.

i am using an old school art carr 9 inch converter also and it is plenty loose. i have stock valves in the iron heads and it is a stock bore motor w/ 218 cam.
i think the 70 may be too much turbo for my motor, especially since i don't do 1/4 mile racing but once a year.

How does the car perform? I run a GT67 and it spools great. I also run an old 16930 N stall art carr. Is this what converter you run? Mine stalls at 4000 at 15 psi. I actually would like to step up to a 70mm.

i have a Turbonetics 66mm PTrim BB [same as the CPT] and i have installspool with my 3200 stall.... no track times yet though...still hookin my WBO2 up....but I LOVE IT:D :D :D

I'm pretty sure it is an N stall converter. When it was set up I had and old 63-1 big shaft turbo. I haven't run 1/4 mile yet with the 70, but last Saturday I ran a 7.50 index 1/8 mile heads up class and went 96 mph on a 7.50 pass at 20lbs. of boost. It has a Cal Hartline program in it and makes mad power in second gear. I just got the program at BG this year and it hasn't been tweaked at all, that will probably help some. I was just tossing around the ball bearing turbo idea and was wondering how the 66 performed.

What is the rest of your combo? If cal wrote you a program for a 70mm turbo perhaps it has way too much fueling. 96 mph in the eighth seems pretty slow for a 70, depending on the rest of the combo. Too much fuel will cause horrible spoolup.

the program needs tweaking, that was the first time i took it to the track. the driveability is great, and it makes power. i will be sending him data log.
i think the program is good considering i didn't even have the car with me when i got it.

You should be able to tune this to work.
Do you have a trans brake?
I did not need one but if the tunning does not fix the spooling to your
liking this may be a work around. A stage right is cheaper than a new turbo anyway!!!
