Our cable here is terrible:mad:

We had dishnetwork once before and they wont let me "re-up" with dishnetwork without buying 3 receivers and the dish plus installation since we were prior customers. Thats about $500.00 bucks+

I really liked dishnetwork, but is direct tv about the same?

i can sign up with directtv as a new customer and only pay $19.95 for all the same equipment listed above.

TIA

Ty

I have been with directv since 98' and love it. Have had comcast, dish network and countryside. D-tv is by far the best in my opinion. Great selection of channels and good service. Hope that helps...

i had it back a few years ago and they only thing i didnt like was no local channels, and now they have those.

the company i work for owns directv but i dont use it...

if your sure i can enquire about a deal for friends if you like

Arista

Hey, hook me up man with the works for like $9.99 a month haha:D

Ty

i have had both I like the channels on direct better and it has tivo, but I liked the guide on dish much better.

Thats what I liked about dish also

Was the guide, how does directtv differ?

pretty much the same, you have several programming packages available, and can add and subtract from there (HBO, Cinemax, etc) with and without local channels. Went with Dtv about five years ago and I don't miss time-warner cable at all.

IMO go Direct TV. Had Dish for 8 months and had THE WORST customer service ever. They offered 3 months free to stay and we told them to shove it. Same packages on programming and 4 room install. Had D-TV before we tried Dish and loved it (lets just say my programming expired) and heard good things about Dish so.... The switch. I won't recommend them to anyone, but I'm sure others have had better luck than me with them.

Do you pay a fee for each room/box per month with either direct or dish? If so, what is it? I do like that cable doesn't charge this like they used to do in the old days..

DTV is the way to go. Around here they are doing three room setups for free. That includes the recievers. My whole family switched from dish net after I had mine done. Plus dish net didn't carry Fox sports Midwest on their basic plan so I would have had to buy a more expensive plan to watch Cardinal games. DTV had it included.

Thats the deal I got 2 years back, or maybe it was only 2 rooms. Either way, we only have 2 rooms that need a tv in. Free installation and all that stuff.

But the catch is, if your house isnt cable/sat ready, they will charge you a ton of money to run new cable thru the house. If thats the case, you're better off buying some on your own and fighting with it. ;)

(most newer house's are cable ready, but alot of older homes arnt.)

for me the dish guide was better bacauseeverything was written a little bigger, I have trouble reading the guide on direct and also on dish you could look at the next show coming on without having to go to the guide but not on direct. but overall I like direct better.

We have directtv. We like it but will probably go back to charter after the subscription expires. Why you say, well it's because of their poor planning for upgrades.
The package that we started with was the basic 39.95 one. Fine,so 5 months into the subscription we wanted to have tivo installed. The add stated all we needed was a telephone jack by the reciever. O.K. we have that. So an appointment was set up to have Tivo installed. Well the installer says that we need to run another individual line just for the tivo AND if we want to upgrade to hdtv in the future we'll need another individual line.
The installer was going to run the wire for the tivo down the roof and into a different entry point into the house.I could go on for longer on how stupid this is for a buisness in the television industry.
Sure would make sense to run muliple wires from the satelite down to a cental location point in the house for future upgrades. The cable that they use is basic cable tv wire, meaning it's pretty dam cheap in the grand scheme of things. Not to do this at the original install would be and is DOH!!!
I like the picture, but will be going back to Charter after the subscription runs out.
