I have a few questions.

What makes Japan pressings or any overseas pressing so highly sought after?

I have a original 1970 Japan Steve Miller all written in both English & Jap.

I collect records, mainly 45's, 50s rockabilly.
I have a mint Japanese pressing of Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon if you want it.

No thanks on the PFlyod. I want to be rid of these records but wanted some advice.. Guess everyone on this board is too young for records LOL!

Generally speaking back in the day they used better vinyl and made better quality records.

Today it's probably just the rarity factor, not many around.

Often times with collectibles it's just a numbers game.

I've got tons of old LPS from the 60's/70's up in the attic but literally played the grooves off of them. Can't bring myself to throw them out and probably not worth anything to a collectible as I wrote my name on a lot of them and the covers have wear and tear on them. Weird thing is I can remember when and where I bought a lot of them but I can't remember driving to work yesterday.

I have that issue too!

From what I have read it seems PROMOS, Posters & certian pressings make old LP's rare.

I have heard the KISS Posters are sought after or the Beatles inserts.

Also the David Bowie DIAMOND DOG covers that got release & then pulled back because they were x rated or somthing like that.

Diamond Dogs is a great album.

My next door neighbor had a copy of it in college and played it a lot, well all spring semester in 1974 anyways.

I hope he still has the damm thing he got it right when released. :p

" The cover art features Bowie as a striking half-man, half-dog grotesque painted by Belgian artist Guy Peellaert. It was controversial as the full painting clearly showed the hybrid’s genitalia. Very few copies of this original cover made their way into circulation at the time of the album's release. According to the record-collector publication Goldmine price guides, these albums have been among the most expensive record collectibles of all time, as high as thousands of US dollars for a single copy. The genitalia was quickly airbrushed out for the 1974 LP’s gatefold sleeve, although the original artwork (and another rejected cover featuring Bowie in a cordobes hat holding onto a ravenous dog) was included in subsequent Rykodisc/EMI re-issues. "

Then there's the "colored" vinyl albums and picture discs and other collectibles and rarities and mistakes.

Just like coins. ;)

CD's suck

I appreciate/play old vinyl LP's on daily basis and would take whatever you have off your hands for a reasonable price.

MY friend has a picture album of boston and a pic album of miss pacman.

@ work we have tons and tons of 45's as we still run a few 45 record jukeboxes. Beleive it or not some peeps still like the ****ty sound of a record playing vs a cd box or a digital download box. I guess the popping and crackling sound are part of reliving way back them to em.
