I ended up taking my 2 nephews to see the non 3D version of AVATAR on sunday the opening weekend.

Wow, it was a great movie, and i wished i had watched the previews of the movie before going. It was a little long 2 1/2 hrs and there was not ONE dull moment of the entire movie. You really didnt know what to expect next.
I ended up watching the second half again because i missed a part of it.

There are so many other new movies that look so great i cant wait to hit the theater and see them.

Sherlock Holmes will be next!

I was not expecting Sigourney weaver to be in the show... I knew it was her once i heard her voice, it was neat how the story begins and unfolds. There were more characters in the movie from various older shows that i was floored to see in the movie.

I didnt know what to expect when we went to the movie.

I did not see many previews of the movie, and was not expecting the main character Jack Sully to be para pelagic to be in control of the hybrid they fashion they did in the movie.

Here is the full synopsis on imdb.com

The movie was really good for sure. I just wish it wasn't so political. Typical hollywood liberalism. Don't want to go into much detail as this is the lounge and not the political section. But to sum it up.... Gov't bad...military bad....we destoy our planet then decide to rape another.

i thought it was good

got my copy @ a week ago and have watched it 3 times and currently have it in the dvd player now. i blew the ending for my bro in law and asked him if he thought sully's eyes opened at the end of the movie because i can't tell, guess that's what you get from buying it from a street movie theater owner. not bad as far as pic wise goes, other then it's a russian rip and i'm not russian so i don't know what they are saying when they talk in the Navi language. wonder if there will be a part 2?

I saw it at the theater and know the answer to your question, PM me so we dont spoil it for anyone who has not seen the movie.

I also saw the last half online, go spend 4.00 at the theater to see it man, ive got a nice setup here to watch and have a nice surround system , but it was incredible to see and feel the movie compared to online.

Hopefully he makes a second movie, or something else in the next year or 2.

AJ-- Yeah, big red scene was really neat, i thought the entire movie was great.

Scott- Im thinking of seeing it in 3d at the IMAX this weekend...

Avatar!!!

The new Avatar movie was absolutely AMAZING!! I loved it. What an experience, and let me tell you- if youre on the fence, please go see it in the movies! Surround Sound, with or without 3D Glasses. I'm going again to see it in IMAX 3D this weekend before it eventually leaves the big screens-

The story, and the way they make the creatures come to life is absolutely amazing..

The female Creature is just tantalizing- I myself was falling in love with it! LOL!

We saw the 3D version (cool goggles & all) and it was incredible.
Kinda makes all other movies seem dull and obsolete.

Thought it was OK.

I was expecting more military @sskicking throughout the movie. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 7. I believe the movie was 3 hours long but it keeps u interested enough to the point where u dont realize how long it is.

They are playing with your heads... Not for me:)

You will love it Shane, it is a laugh.

Just remember it is a movie and the purpose is entertainment nothing more.
I watched to to see all the special effects. The story line sure was done well.

Go and enjoy a night Shane.

Interesting fact of the day

Did you know there is a support forum for people who became severely depressed after seeing this movie? Apparently they are waking up and becoming disappointed that they are not living in "that" world.

I'm not kidding.

Apparently there is also some kind of dream sequence in it that is not fulfilled....and this is also depressing people.

This is what happens when you sit in front of World of War Craft for 23 hours of the day.

Here's an exerpt

Original Poster:

I recently read on the Avatar TypePad Blog, that people are becoming depressed because of the movie. People are realizing that the dream can't actually come true. I was trying to start a thread where people gave ideas on how to cope with it, as in reading Avatar stuff, Writing ( about avatar of course), painting, or whatever.

Person Coping:
After I watched Avatar at the first time, I trully felt depressed as I "wake" up in this world again.
So after few days, I went to cinema and watched it again for the second time to relieve the depression and hopeless feeling.
Now I listen to the soundtrack and share my views in this forum. It really helps.

Person Offering Advice:
Start living like Neytiri: in touch with nature, the environment, and not being greedy and wasteful. Pass on the burger, for something more healthy for you and less cruel to animals. Spend your time on this forum, or volunteering in your free time, instead of getting high or drinking, twiddling your thumbs, being apathetic and complaining about how bad the world is. Don't get swept away by the wave of negativity, live your dream. Your life has only two switches, to shine or not to shine. There is no "apathy" setting. If you're on apathy setting you might as well sign your world away to destruction. When you get discouraged by everyone around you, be courageous like Jake, and jump on the leonopteryx. Be the change you want to see in your world. There are only so many people on this earth, the more of them that are doing positive things, the less of them that are out there doing negative things. It's unfortunate that we live in a world where, just by pulling a trigger or making a corporate decision, one single greedy human being can wipe out the hard works of love of many people. But this is why we need to stop focusing on money and start focusing on our environment. Because we have the intelligence to kill ourselves, but not the wisdom to stop it. What will our money buy, when everything that is worth having is destroyed? The only way you can fill the emptiness you feel after this movie, is to jump on the leonopteryx.

Saw it in Imax tonight, and it was well worth it. I didnt blink for 20 minute stretches.

I'll try to say my peace without ruining it for anybody.

The theatrical experience is excellent.

The effect's raise the bar significantly! Just spectacular. From the depiction of both the military and native's sides. Think, along the lines of Lucas' work with the original Star Wars. Groundbreaking! That may look cheesy today, but to be able to have seen it at it's original theater presentation is a strong memory! Take the kids!

The plot is equally spectacular. In how contrived it is. It's a 21st century cowboy movie, from the indian's wishful POV. Unapologetically liberal. Yet at the same time, a realist mindset can appreciate the message, in moderation of course, and enjoy the film all the same. I noticed the racial cross-sectioning they did in the HBO first look, afterwards. Again, pretty contrived.

I'm happy to have supported it twice. As entertainment, it's currently unrivalled in excellence of presentation.
