Yea and i was just tryin to figure out where to get a new rubber for my back one....hmmmmm

Thanks Grumpy...looks good !!

what did you do woth the hole ? Its hard to tell in the pics that its there

I only know 1 local who bought his GN new (I still remember his first day to drive it to work & show it off) & it came without the bumperetts. He still owns the GN & said he didn't notice them missing for almost 2 years.

Here's mine. Since I have a lightweight, smooth fiberglass bumper in front, I wanted the same look at the rear, but with a steel bumper. So I took a used steel GN bumper and removed both the bumperettes and rubber strip and had all the holes welded.

Can't we just send them to you for that work Dan? You're retired right?

I am working more now than I did when I worked :eek: I want to do "building" now and thats it !!! BUT have 2 Buicks in here as I am typing :p

I removed the rear bumperettes many years ago, as I also think it looks better. Here's a tip though for others that have done the same ...

If you install an airbag in the rear spring (or on both sides, which I did), run the air line from the bag (s) to the bottom holes in the bumper. The threaded valve fits perfect, easy to get to and the holes are filled. As for the top holes, pop in the flat black plastic plugs you find in the "Help" section at the auto parts store.

I did this in 1989 and it still looks good.

Wow...that looks great

goin to have to weld up the holes.. more work than your thinking :p

Why weld the holes? You're making a lot of work for very little improvement & you can possibly use the holes for air bags. Dorsey didn't even miss the bumperetts for almost 2 years.

Here's pics of mine. The holes in the part of the bumper that shows SHOULD be welded up. Sort of defeats the purpose of going for a cleaner look if you don't.

the bottom holes are not welded up. BUT anything on the face that you see were. Plus we always left the bumper strip in place. To many Masswholes park by the "bump method"
