Hi,

Anyone running the 204/214 cam in their combo? This is contemplated for the following setup:
TE-44
42lbs inj
2800 stall
mild ported stock heads with bigger valves
Precision front mount intercooler

Comments/suggestions welcome.

Regards,
Shev

I love the 204/214 grind.... Reds Hot Air turned me onto them years ago. Ive also never had one go flat although a friend of mine did after about 50k miles I think ( so IMO he got his money out of the cam). The fastest Ive ever heard of anyone going on one is about 128mph. Im putting together a engine currently thats going to have one. Its going to be a mild street motor... minor port work on the heads and a TA series turbo hoping to run lower 11s wth it taking it easy.

With your combo and that cam I would think the car would mph around 118 you might get 120 out of it if the tune is dead on.

Thanks Jim,

With the stuff I listed except I was running the Lunati 202/202, I had a streched stock location intercooler and with a TA-49, the car has gone 112mph with 24lbs and race weight of 4050lbs.

You can have mine...the damn thing is flat:mad:

Don't screw with flat tappet cams, its a gamble and your going to lose.:frown:

I've got 1 but I'm not ready to instal it yet. As far as it going flat get some ZDDp and get hold of ARICH2000 and ask for some of his Z paste to help you with break in. There's a thread about cams going flat so see if you can find it and give Rich a PM. He'll be glad to help with this.

TE-44
Dutt Neck IC
MSD 50s
Razor's Alky Kit
204-214 Cam
Mild Head Work

Combo on dads limited, 300 miles, doing good so far!

Comments on the camshaft, many KC guys have used it with success.

My car runs awsome with this cam. Check my sig. I have read on hear before if you are going to run a flat tap cam, this is the one to get, otherwise go with a roller

TE44
50lb Inj
ATR FMIC
3000 Pats Stall 10"

GREAT street /strip cam for these engines . Great bottom/Mid pulls like a freight train , idles like a stocker . .old combo 204/214 , T66 - 11.34 @ 117mph / 1.7 60ft .

Yeah Mike, we dropped the motor in yesterday, should be up and running soon.
Kwikr thanks for the feedback, looking forward to trying it all out soon.

I have almost the same setup minus the front mount, and my stall is about 3,000 and I have 60's. Very good cam. I have had a stocker, Postons 107T, now this one. I like it. Pulls hard, idles nice, still decent mileage (since mine's a driver). I broke in mine with Rotella T 10w40 and never had any flat lobe issues.

It is awesome to see that this cam is being used in so many different applications with great results; from racing to daily drivers. Well we put it all back in yesterday and started it up. Sounds great and I drove it to the gas station to fill it up too. Now on to the break in and then have some fun. Will keep ya'll posted on the progress.

did you follow a break-in procedure for the cam on start up ? :)

Yes the cam was properly broken in on startup. It is a crucial part of the install that lots of folks neglet and then wonder why there was a premature failure. There are always lots of factors to consider in any cam failure of course but at least when you do a proper break in you can have a little better peace of mind.

I have the cam in my motor too. Has a nice idle and once it gets over 2 grand it pulls like a mofo

I had a Big Block Chevy buddy I took for a "ride" when I after just finished dropping in that cam . His honest to god comment when he stepped out of the car was " Dam that cam Idles like a stocker goes like a f@#ker ". :) I couldn't help but laugh . :D you'll run out of road before you find the top end . :D
