I'm sick of these tix. It seems like There is a camera on every block in NYC. I seen a few for sale but don't know if they actually work?

They had some on mythbusters and claimed that they don't work. That's the only time I heard anything about them working or not , would be nice to hear from someone who uses one

Never heard of them working...seen them on tv and such but never seen them for sale.

Are you talking about the Plate or the spray on kind? I hear the spray on is just a Really high gloss coat on your LP. When the flash hit it, its to bright for the camera to pic up the LP # but I read about this 6 or so years ago.

I have some regular clear plexiglass cover over my license plates. It's there mainly to protect the plate, nothing else. There's no garantee that if a camera takes a picture of my car, I won't get caught, unless IF I'M VERY LUCKY and that the reflection of the flash happens to blind the camera enough and prevent it from seeing picking up my plate number!.. As for those "camera blockers", I've never heard of them, much less seen one...

Claude. :)

I know how to trick the camera so it doesn't take a picture of my plates at all, its easy.........

I stop at red lights! ;)

X2 I think every town around me has them except Elmhurst. I would rather put my money into my Buick .

I'm in the Plainfield, Romeoville area and I haven't seen any over here... But then again I don't really look for them. I know they nail a lot of people in Chicago for rolling through a right turn on red.

Just install one of those flip down license plates. just make sure there is no cop behind u.

Looks like a bunch of hype to me... I used to do affiliate marketing on the web and this looks like a standard capture page.... Notice how they have testimonials, as seen on TV, and really want to sign up affiliates/dealers more than they want to actually sell the product.... Thats where the money is.... They also offer 10% off and a free E-book when you enter your name and E-mail.... After you fall for this they will blast you with E-mails using a auto responder until you either buy or ask to be removed... Products like this come and go, and really get hyped... "Become a dealer and make 300% profit" haha this might be true but you have to have years of internet marketing experience and are willing to shell out 1000's of dollars every month to get any return on your investment... The only ones making money are seasoned marketers that know what they are doing and have the money to make money...

Yeah not alot of fun slamming on your brakes at every yellow light..

I know I am only 27 and have only been driving for about 12 years or so but... When I took drivers ed in high school I was taught to anticipate a yellow light every time I approached a intercection.... You either have time to stop or you don't and you go through the yellow light..... Its that simple... I have never had a problem running red lights on a regular basis that I have any need of some crazy product to hide my license plate. If you have time to say to yourself "S*** I have to reach down and hit this switch so I can hide my plate because I am running this light." Then you have time to just hit the brakes and stop... I am guessing that the majority of guys on this forum don't have this problem either considering the art of hiding your license plate is not a common topic of discussion. You could defiantly make a STICKY out of this post on any ricer forum...;)

Anticipating the light turning is not a problem.. Try driving in NYC every day then come back here and tell me how you feel. And hiding my plate is not the objective if you read the post.

I have read the post "Anyone try the license plate camera blockers ?" I must be missing something.... How is that not the same thing as hiding your plate? Sorry for getting into this with you but I just don't see a need for this kinda product especially in the "General Tech" section of this forum...

There are tons of posts in the general tech section every day that are about various different things. If I don't have any useful info about the question asked I don't post. And In my opinion "hiding" my plate would be to cover or obscure it from the thousands of people and law emforcement that I encounter every day, not preventing a camera from flashing my car .023 seconds after a solid red at a rate of speed of 30-35 miles an hour. Myself, my girl, my 68 Yo grand father and my father have all gotten one of these camera tix in the last 4 weeks. I know the city is broke but come on.

Friend of mine used to iron wax paper ontop of the numbering. Doing this would kill the light reflection of the numbers.. Doing it in splotches would make a flash pickup partial garbled numbering..
