Just wondering how bad a rear end hit would be on the Regal's... hell with the metal bumper .. would there be frame damage? Anyone ever been rear ended and still had a car left? thanks....

I don't know about rear end accidents, but I can tell you my 84 GN took a hard hit to the front. It didn't do too well as you can see:

ha! i can tell you from experience guys, i had an 87 turbo T, that was ram'd from the back, i was waiting to turn and a full sized car slams into the back going between 20 to 25 MPH, the cars hit bumper to bumper cause i had no damage,Until i later realized that somehow the accident damaged my water pump, i went to change it at the corner gas station and got a " well it's $50.00 an hour and it's between 3 to 4 hours of work" i looked at him and said are you nuts? do you know what to do? what your looking at? needles to say he did'nt know $hit about our cars, so i did it myself, but all in all i say they are tough cars

turboregal, that was a horrible crash, glad to see your still here:)

My God that is terrible.... were you hurt at all?

They are the same as any other car of similar year & size - no better no worse

You should realize, when a car is in a crash, it's not supposed to resist damage. The more damage the car resist, the more damage to the occupants.
Something has to be done with the kinetic energy generated in an accident. It either goes to the car or its occupants.

I was in an accident with my GN at the Columbus nats. I hit a woman who was turning from the opposite direction. As said before, the car did 'OK', but I walked out of the car without a single scratch. The occupants of the other car had some cuts and scratches. I even managed to drive the car from Ohio back to Maryland. Didn't hit the radiator. :O

That's why I've always driven these cars. If I get hit, I want to walk away. Don't car about the car... as long as I'm alive.

My car hyroplaned and I was sent spinning into a wall at about 70mph.

The rear of the car was trashed. I walked away unscathed, extremely pissed mind you but ok.

Here's the rear damage from a 25mph hit by a Lincoln FWD version 1993 model.

Front of my car hit the guy in front of me unfortunately and the cosmetics up front looked worse than the back.

Slight frame damage behind the rear wheel and I drove it home and fixed up the front and have been driving it 8 years since then.

Messed up my back a bit but I played 18 holes of golf the next day since I didn't want to cancel out on the event at Lyman Orchards, nice course. ;)

Totaled the FWD Lincoln and the air bags messed up the D'Bag B!tch that hit me. Her face looked like Freddy got her.

Been hit 5 times so far and drove home from all of them, well actually to work a few times too. Wear your seat belt and I think they are a very safe car. :)
