Just noticed that my roof is so hurting that I am not sure what it even is suposed to look like above the a pillars, just about that spot that sits over the sun visor mounts..
Wondering if anyone had some pics with or preferably without the weather seals

Thanks
Chris

Here are some of the pics of mine...1 before and the rest after. HTH ---Keith

Thanks so much Keith..Was that a fabricated repair or did you have an original from a donor car?..Looks good

Chris

Fortunately, I was lucky enough to find a donor piece...but I believe the corners could be fabbed if nesassary. BTW--if you do fab the corners, those "pockets" that are there, are NOT needed...all they did was provide the factory an easy place to spot weld the two pieces together...oh, and trap moisture causing them to rust!! Also, make sure you remove the weatherstrip retainers while you are there. GM didn't paint under them, or seal around them so the moisture would creep underneath them and that is where the rust starts. Get the stainless ones from G-bodyparts, they work great if you use body panel adhesive to attach them. Using the adhesive also seals under them, preventing future moisture problems. Keep posting up with more ?'s and I'll help if I can. Also POST SOME PICS!!:D :D ---Keith

AGREE...Those annoying "pockets" are the reason this nonsense starts.I'm fabbing up plates to eliminate the gulleys and it will also give a smooth transition for the weatherstrip to conform. The factory filled in the areas there and across the center ridge with that butyl(?) sealer called dum-dum.Great for sealing gaps but not waterproof by a long shot!Great advice above! Also check down in the jambs above the top door hinge, theres a factory weld there and if water has been running thru the A post for years, possible that it could have rusted or weakened the weld.Become friendly with POR 15,stuff works wonders...

Ah yes, pics..had them in the other thread, but this is a more specific topic..So many sections I am attempting, floors, quarters, t-roof..
Thanks for the pointers Keith.I just started stripping it down (car is here at my house) in between visiting the donor car(at buds house removing all good sheet metal)..
Just looked at gbodyparts to figure out what parts you were talking about..Good idea I say ..Mine are pretty much gone just from removing the weather strip..
TURBOV8R , thanks for the heads up on the "A" pillar welds, I will check that out..I am pretty certain my front glass is coming out too..oh ya, Have a qt of POR I have already dipped into for my other car..stuff comes highly recomended by others as well.I plan on using it in many spaces before things get buttoned up..
Tried to repost my pics of the sad roof..kinda copid form my other post(dont have the pics on this pc) should work

Thanks so much guys, giving me hope ..

Your pics are inspiring me to go look for donors as well..Seems like I may be better off considering the upper windshield frame damagae.
Back when we had TR's with T-tops for daily drivers, you ever get used to moving your leg/knee over when you came to a stop on a rainy day so all the water sitting on the roof wouldnt come in and get ya..

Funny how the car that will get the new weather seals will probably see very little rain..

Yeah,,Ain't that a B**ch but true.
Even though heard that prices on the aftermarket strips are a little easier to swallow than the GM parts and Brian was sayin they fit good....
Does anyone have any leads on the black double stick tape for reapplying the trim peices?

X2. Try 3M for the double sided tape...that's what I used.

Figured I'd use this thread to continue the t top saga..

Basicly heading out to a yard that had quite a few MC SS t top cars last time I was there..Hoping to get lucky with a donor t roof section..
I am probably crazy for thinking I will find something, but what the hay.

Wonder what a reasonable price is for a cut up piece of t roof?

I wouldn't think it would be more than $75-100. Good luck with your search.

I'm so glad I don't live in the rust belt like you guys do. I still have to take my top off but I'm hoping it won't be as bad as what you've had to deal with.
