So why exactly should I be careful with Subaru's? Just because someone spent enough to get something into the nine's? Well then I should also be careful of Camaro's and Chevelle's and Mustangs, and ........................nearly any car on the road. Oh wait a sec, I really don't need to be very careful of any car on the road since there aren't too many daily driven that even run 12's much less 9's and if I do run across one I think it would be pretty obvious and who really cares if they get beat at a light by a car someone spent $100,000 modifying???? I know I wouldn't feel bad at all.

The point is, it is possible to spend enough money on anything t oget it to run really good, the cars you have to watch out for are the ones that apear stock and are actually streetable because they are the only ones you will see on the road.

You may not know this - BUT. There is no magic under the hood of your turbo regal. Its a gasoline engine....

Gas goes in, it burns, turns an explosion into motion and makes the car go forward. I think Turbo Regals are great cars, but there are other cars on the planet that I can appreciate. A TRUE car fan doesn't think his car is the end all and be all of cars. He can appreciate all cars for what they are, and appreciate car fans no matter what they drive. Anything short of that is immature, childish, self centered viewpoint of the world.

The turbo regal is an awesome straight line stoplight racer, that is great for minimal daily driving, and fun on the weekends or at the dragstrip and can be beat senselessly and still come back for more.

The new Subaru is a nice AWD peppy driver, thats nice to zip around in, awesome in foul weather, and super light on gas.

I happen to like them both. As soon as you begin to think that your car is the be-all of motorsports, you lose. There is always someone "faster", "better" or spent more or less money then you. ALWAYS.

Todd,they will never understand. The mind set is they think all the imports are riced out and slow,and most of them are. That is what makes having a subtle import with descent h.p. slapping a TRUE performance car around that much sweeter. I think the ultimate sleeper anymore is a import with good h.p. Nothing like smoking a Mustang with an awd Talon.

You know I've been thinking about this qoute for 2 days and you are right. I used to work for a Subaru dealer and we(my co-workers) would snicker everytime a woman would bring their car into the service department. They either looked lesbian(mullet haircut or flattop, a little chunky and homely) or they would start with a statement my "husband cant do anything right"or"I dont trust my husband with our car". If I'm not mistaken I think Subaru was also like Volkswagen in that their TV comercials were aimed at the gay/lesbian market. I cant spell her name but Martina the pro tennis player was Subes spokeslizzy for them. BTW, I have nothing against gays or wives who wear the pants in the family so dont flame me here or anywhere else.

Mike, Todd, Jay Carter and myself have, or had, TR's. As Mike said, they are different cars, and both have thier own upside and downside. Sure, my Buick was faster, but the WRX would leave a TR in the dust on a twisty rd, just as a TR would blow away a WRX at the drags. To say somethin like this:

I never get offended when someone does not share my taste in cars, but to have a bunch of lugnuts saying "it sucks!" is amusing, and I enjoy sparring with them, kinda like matching wits with a shovel.

I would love to own an STI as a daily driver. It does a lot of things well and I actually like the looks. Just don't know if I could deal with the rice fan boys. It's also the only 4 banger that sounds decent.

Ok .. I not only drive a Subaru (which I love) but I work for Subaru --(technical trainer) I am not a lesbian (you can check with Galoush for verification) ... and I am NOT homely and fat...
So I don't quite get your point of view --
Subaru's are awesome cars --- quality vehicles that perform well ..
I am also a huge buick (GN) fan --- come on guys ... let's try not to be so closed minded. It's one thing to be a true blue fan of one type of car --- but how about an appreciation for all things FAST ....

My Buick is fast but my friends Honda is faster and i respect him and his car no matter what. Its the enginering that im into not the badge the car has on it.. Those new Scooby Doo,s are fast and great enginering

I love my WRX daily driver. It's the bug-eye style. Black. 5speed, short-shifter. Quick and more fun to drive than the GN. Maybe not as exciting to drive, but more enjoyable. My GN stays in the garage these days.

Blown&Injected - sorry about that thing in the left lane on 95 last week - I didn't mean to honk at you so loud and flash my bright WRX lights so impatiently at you so you'd get that rusty old monte or whatever it is with the exhaust dragging on the ground and random weatherstripping falling off in the wind out of my way. hehe
