Okay, I ran the CarboTech Bobcats this past weekend. My initial impressions were good. Very little dust, quiet, initial bite was good, and I had a lot of control. I would say they are easily on par with the Porterfield R4S, and they cost a bit less.

Correcting my earlier report, I took the car to Deal's Gap last weekend (www.tailofthedragon.com) and ran it pretty hard. The Bobcats fade out much sooner than the Porterfields. Not recommended for super heavy braking use. They'll die after a couple stops from 100mph on a GN.

So the Performance Friction pads are not ceramic correct? Is everyone using the standard or the Z rated? TIA

The Performance Friction pads are not ceramic, they are Carbon Metallic.

On my '80 Firebird I use the 12" B body Spindles and 12" 1LE rotors with the stock '80 firebird calipers and Performance Friction Z Rated pads. I also have the stock rear disc brake option and use the Z rated pads on the rear as well.

These pads are great. There is very little brake dust and the hotter they become, the faster they stop the car. It is the opposite of brake fade. They really pull the car down to a quick stop.

AC-Delco brakes

hey guys

I'm not sure what manufacturer builds the AC-delco brand brakes. I think that they are far the best brakes i have put on the car. yes they put out some light brake dust. But i can handle that as long as i know i can stop my heavy brick

I used to work at Advance Auto for 5 yrs. the best selling brakes there were the bendix brand. but for the regal they were like almost 45 bucks. i got the AC-delco ones for like 25 bucks.

When you compare the bendix to the AC-delco they are an exact match down to the rivets and all

I have the Porterfield pads on the front and their shoes on the rear. The car stops really well! Thanks to all those that persisted in getting me to go with those. I had original GM rear shoes and GM front pads on the car previously, man what a difference. It brakes and stops like a compact car now. It doesn't feel like a brick when you stop in a hurry!

Gnx6- do you have the part numbers for the porterfield shoes and pads? THANKS- i WANT A SET.

I don't have the boxes around anymore. The ones you want are the R4-S compound. You need to call them anyway, you can not purchase from their website directly if I recall correctly.
