I have read alot over the last few weeks. I'm trying to help a good friend of mine and this has been a great learning experience with E-85. I can tell you his current setup but its nothing impressive. 83's single 340 on striaght E-85.

He's wanting to step it up now since he is confident in E-85. Anyways he is ready to start ordering parts but i have some more questions so i can tell him what to get.

Anyways

Im still lost on what injectors to get. 120 should be enough but was thinking of just getting the 160 and be done with it. Whats your take?

Also pumps, Looks like where going Fuel Lab. looking at the 41402-1 it should have enough capacity to do roughly 80% dc of 160#'s. Maybe the 42402 which will have the 160's covered. Inputs?

Also will be getting one of Robb mc performance hangers with the AN fittings. Running a -8 line to the front of the car and dual feeding the rails.

I will ask a few other questions. but the pump and injectors are the main issue still

No one yet?

Freind shot me a email today asking if i would look into the weldon D2035-a pump.

Any idea. Fuel lab or Weldon?

I'll take a stab. 9.90's looks like roughly 800 hp in a 3850# car. Using a BSFC of .65, that's roughly 90 gph (rounded up) or 540 #/hr. At 70 psi ( 45 base + 25 boost), 85#/hr injectors at 100% pass through this point so using 80% dc, I get 106#/hr. Since there are no 106's, 120's should do the job with some margin. Pumps that should supply minimum 90gph@70psi in increasing order of capacity are: magnafuel 4301, fuelab 41401, weldon 2015, XP+ double, aero a1000. No comment on suitability/reliability with fuels other than gas.

With E-85 I'd say do the 160's for sure. My car will probably run the 120's out at high tens.

Of course if you run alky on top, 120's might get the job done.

Is he running a stock computer w/ a chip or FAST ? Erics TT chips are programmable up to 120/lb injectors, may be a deciding factor for your friend.
As for the fuel pump....Weldon of Magnafuel are my votes based on what I've read all over the web.

hes using a XFI,

Also do the weldon pumps need a controller or will a big return -8an be enough to return the fuel

Also do the weldon pumps need a controller

If he is doing alot of street driving it's probably a good idea, people have run them without it though but it's only going to prolong pump life if he's on the street alot....good thing w/ the weldons are they are fully rebuildable as they dont use any plastics in their pumps, the one i ran on my Sattellite was around 10 years old and not a hiccup.

figured with all the street driving that the -8 return will help with keeping the pump cool and the flow of fuel up to par during idle conditions.

Car will be driven on the streets but less the 5K a year.

An Aeromotive A1000 will not get you into the 9's while running E85! Remember that E85 requires 30% more fuel flow to get the same Btu's as gasoline which makes the pump work even harder. Most folks don't realize that the output pressure goes DOWN as the flow increases with an electric pump. If you want an Aeromotive pump, go with their Eliminator pump. Also, do it once and be done....go with -10 feed and -8 return. I would not use an Aeromotive with the McRobb pickup unless you can be certain that the pump will not run dry on startup. There are some pumps that will let you get away with a dry start but the Aeromotive pumps are not on that list. Either mount the Aero pump in the tank (they are designed to operate completely submerged) or sump your tank and mount the pump below the bottom of the tank. Read the Stickies above.

Conrad

ps...go to any fuel pump's nmanufacturer's web site and find the pump curve (pressure vs flow) and take a look at it.

Conrad, thanks for the input. We have even considering the aeromotive stuff. What pump would you use. I was looking at either fuel lab or weldon.

So looks like the car will need 160's so I got that on the list.

So the main question is what pump. The car will have a mcrobb on it as the user doesn't want a sumped tank. He likes the stock look.

Injectors and pump for E-85...

You might consider talking with asloan5, another member here on the boards. He went 9.96 at Reynolds last November with crappy 60 foot times and 120 lb injectors and Fuel lab pump and E-85. The car has more left in it at this time. He also has the XFI and could discuss duty ratings, Sharp guy, helpful and easy to talk too.

I have read a lot of his posts. I'm sure he will chime in
