yes, thats the surge, or 'compressor slam' as we call it. remember, like a flexplate or a torque converter, the turbos compressor wheel doesnt INSTANTLY stop spinning, the SECOND you lift off the gas pedal, BUT, the throttle plate in the throttle body DOES close instantly though. so where do you think this air ends up? exactly, backing up against the still moving compressor wheel. Does it damage it? not really in small and medium sized turbos. (it CAN, but its very few and far between that this happens) In bigger turbos, its a little more of an issue. still, not many run blow off valves so, you'll be ok. Im just a little paranoid thats all.
