I'm looking to upgrade my turbo. I was thinking about a CPT66bb or PT67, I don't know if I have enough injector for either one of these turbos, but I don't want to upgrade injectors. Just wanted to see what some people running similar combo to mine have, any opinions would be appreciated.

stock 109 block, no caps or gridle, 212/212 comp roller, T&D 1.6 roller rockers, GN 1s, MSD 50s, FMIC, TE-44, built tranny 3600 Art Carr n/l, double pumper, etc. 11.83@117.02

With those turbos you will need to upgrade injectors. I max out my 50 lb injectors with a TA62 turbo. 26 lbs of boost. :D

It's the horsepower you want to make, not the turbo, that determines what injector to use.

I like the 66 ball bearing turbo and may get one for my GN.

Or Innovatives double BB version.

50's are good to about 11.0 times and I think they say 550 HP.

Depends on what you run and how you are going to use it?

My friend Scott was running a 3K stall and CPT66BB with 50's at 11.2 times race gas and slicks. Ported heads and small cam.

Also not sure why you wouldn't want to change out injectors? It's relatively easy to do.

Sounds like either turbo would match your combo and if you have good scan tools like Direct Scan you can easily tell when your injectors are done and upgrade then if you wish to.

I just ran times in sig on a TE67 with MSD50's at 79-81% duty cycle fwiw.. tho I use alky as a 7th injector.

I would say 126-128 on 50's with alcohol inj. Without alky I would suggest 72's.

50's are good to about 120 MPH trap speed full weight car without stretching them too thin. Whether you can make 120 MPH trap on 13 lbs or 35 lbs.. MPH dictates HP. Injectors are needed to support HP.

HTH

PS.. some can say they go 10's on 009's.. depends if you like running them at 120% DC.

Razor, that kinda worries me since I ran 122 mph last year on 50s pump gas and alky. Maybe I should upgrade;-)

I just upgraded to 65's this past week thanks to a deal from a friend.

And it depends, see my 122 was running 760's for O2's. I could of turned up the boost a little more and leaned it out to pick up a few extra MPH.. so it depends how your tuning it.

Big difference in my case 710-720's vs 760's at the same injector duty cycle.

Record your runs on direct scan and play them back see where your at.

FWIW, My car was out of fuel with the 50's @ 119 - 120 mph and in the 11.20 - 11.1x ET range. That was with a PT52 turbo. My feeling is anything in the 52/54 or TE60/61 rnage will be able to max out those injectors especially with the 212 cam and GN1 heads you have. If you had stock unported heads it would be a different story.

Your double pumper may help get you a couple extra mph and/or .10th's but I wouldn't push it too far. No point ruining a good engine because you didn't want to upgrade the injectors.

If you need more fuel, just buy a 7th shooter, and an alchohol kit. Both are great to fine tune with, even if using race gas. I use racing methanol in my alc. kit. It is more of a real fuel. Still helps out alot for big boost on pump gas. I wish I hav bought a bigger turbo, I have a TE61, and only 009 inj. I have good fuel at 27psi and run low 11s with big spin out of the hole. Go BIG!

Hrmm, good topic here. My combo is PT51, 50s, powerstroke FMIC, and a Comp Cams 206/206. I run the 51 through a stock ported elbow with a big puck and a 3" Modern Muscle downpipe. With a orange crush 3000 stall, I went 117.73mph a few weeks ago. This was with an old race chip, and the car was rich according to the EGT, it never went over 1550. My car seems to like low 1600s. I didnt see any knock, this was with 23psi with a creep in 2nd gear to 26psi.

Im going back to the track tomorrow with a RJC boost controller and a Eric Marshall Race Chip. I will be dissapointed if the car doesnt go 118, and possibly pick up a tenth or two in ET.

So if I upgrade the turbo like I plan too, will I need more injector? Im thinking about going to a te45a or a te63-1, something like that. I also plan on installing the Art Carr 9" non-lockup converter I have laying in the garage. I really dont want to have to upgrade injectors, but I do plan on installing alky since race gas is expensive :) Any thoughts........Razor?

You'll be covered spraying methanol and 50's.

Probably into the mid-upper 10's fuel wise. Easy.

But not on race gas alone, unless you plan on running the injectors way past where they need to be.

Now whether your motor will hold up running into the mid 10's.. thats a whole other story ;)

Car ran good tonight.........see times in sig.........still has a tenth in it I think. Man, what a rushhhhhhhhhh...................
