Hi,

I found old threads on the Quicksilver here but had a couple of questions.

There are two models with different bases, which one works best for 87GN?
Also, do they come with an indicator and light for 1,2,3,D,N,R,P ? The pics on Summit etc only show 1,2,D (No OD). Are some for 3 speed and some for 3 speed with OD?

Also, what else do I need if I want to keep it in the original console with minimal cutting etc

Thanks

All info you should need is here on the install I did on my GN. http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/ge...26-quicksilver-shifter-installation-pics.html

I used the one that came with parts for installation in a car that didn't have a console, they have one unit that is for use with I believe Camaros with a console. Yes it comes with a gear indicator plate but when installed in our type of console they are sort of useless.

sure does

i have one in my monte, i fab'd it into the concle . it works for both 3 speeds and 4 speeds, just a matter of removing a lock out pin and changing the plastic indicator window. it is very stiff at first but loosens up in time.

to keep factory console and the factory trim plate you'll need to drill out the spotwelds and remove the forward factory mounting bracket from the floor and youll have to drill a new hole for the cable

Correct, all the that is mentioned in my thread I posted above. Pretty much no going back to stock setup again unless you reweld that bracket in and get yourself a new console top as you cut out some of that as well. (the part under the top plate) If you never intend to go back to stock it is no concern, my car is so far gone from stock I will leave going back to stock to the next guy. So far, I am very happy with this shifter. Also had my engraver make a new overlay for the gear indicators though it is really hard to see the red indicator when driving since it is so far down in the console.
