Breather/catch can setups

Im tired of my breathers spitting oil all over my valve covers then onto my headers. Please post pics and ideas of your setups using catch cans and such. Thanks alot.

These are the way to go. Just run a line off the valve cover to the catch and your in buisness.

I am going to run one catch can and have a fitting on each valve cover run into the can.
Then run another hose to a fitting on the intake pipe and cause a vacuum like the factory intended during boosting to suck out all the blow by.

I should have something in a couple of weeks.

What would/could cause blowby? I've always had(when it was running)oil leaking on the headers from my breather(driver side only), I always thought it was a ring problem. Is it a serious problem to have blowby with these motors?

Blowby is normal on these motors when your under boost. The more boost you have the more blowby. Just make sure your PCV system is working.

So is everybody running a K&N breather on both sides of the valve covers or do you still have the oil fill cap?

I have breathers on both sides and my driver's side is spewing oil on my valve covers which drip down to the headers.

necessarily....
Just by it rattling, does not mean it will seal up when engine sees boost.
The rattle means it's not gummed shut.

I've always installed Total Seal Gapless rings to stop blowby.

Phil, right now I just have pcv catch but this weekend I am going to pick up a catch can like these. I think I can get away with one can. Not a whole lot of blow by. I'll take some pics when its done.

Both of my breathers drip but its especially bad on the drivers side.

Here is a link to a PCV that stopped the oil from getting in my throttle body on my LS1.

to see if the valve will block when blowing into the hose side. If you can blow thru it, then the boost will leak past, and enter the crankcase.
Cheapo valves are usually not worth messing with. I always use the DELCO stuff, and "test" them B4 I buy them...

when using the T/A performance valve covers the breather hole inst over the top of a rocker, and with baffled grouments and K&N breathers i havent had any issues with oil coming from mine with this setup

Wow im glad to see im not the only one with oil on the drivers side headers. Thanks alot. Im probably going to fabricate up a single can and run hoses from each side. What kind of hose are you guys using? AN? Tha would be expensive no?

I made a baffle for my driver's side breather out of a lip balm container. It's 100% effective in keeping oil from dripping from the breather and the breather still functions as intended. I've been running it this way for about 4 years now.

To keep the intake from sucking oil thru the PCV, I installed a catch can and mounted it on the back of the turbo heat shield. The heat in this area allows the catch can to only have oil drop out of the vapor the PCV sucks. It too is extremely effective as my throttle body and doghouse have been dry since I cleaned them when I installed the catch can. I tried a bunch of DIY catch can gizmos and the AMW can I finally purchased was far and away better than anything I could come up with.
