Not sure I fully understand but can someone explain c-clips to me. I'm building a pro-touring street car & have seen recommendations to NOT eliminate the c-clips due to side load. Can someone explain the pros & cons of eliminating c-clips & rather I should or shouldn't?

Thanks

C-clips on your stock axles prevent the axle from coming out of the axle housing and with it your wheel. The downside to the stock setup is that if you break the axle (drag racing) there is nothing to prevent it from coming out. The C-clip eliminator setup converts to a Ford style setup where the axle is held in by a special flange mounting out on the end of the axle. The downside to the design is that they tend to leak, which can get oil on your rear brake shoes. You can go either way for what you are planning. If you are going to stress those axles with serious power, I'd go c-clip eliminators myself.

Oh okay, I'm not going to be drag racing...well maybe but nothing serious but car will surly NOT be built as a drag car! This will be for a GN G80 rear end so just incase, do you know of a good c-clip eliminator manufacture thats not known to leak?

Thanks

I have Mosers on mine. Two years, no leaks. 33 spline, lots of 15-20lb launches, fairly easy to install. Phil.

I have Moser's on mine too. They're OK. No problems with them yet, no leaks.

After I put them in I saw how to install Ford ends instead. That's probably the better way to go.

I was looking to buy Mosers, but had to do some research about Moser vs Strange c clip elims. Mosers are a flat bearing, which some say not good for daily or for corners. Strange is a taper bearing, which is supposedly better. I like Moser, and wanted to keep everything one brand so went with Moser axles, c clip elims, rear cover, etc. If I have any issues, maybe I will do the Ford ends later. We shall see. A lot of guys said Moser leaks, with just as many saying they don't. Depends on who you talk to. I will be installing the Mosers soon!
