Well, I'm thinking about buying the 84 T listed in "Cars for sale" by VSix. He says that there is some knock, I'm not sure exactly what is causing it though (I'm gonna check w/ him to see if he knows). So what I was wondering what are the major causes of "knock" and what are ways to fix it (and how much will the fix cost)?? TIA

BTW, I know "rod knock" is the major one, but I'm still unclear as to what that is.

Well there are different forms of "knock" there can be actual knocking where the downpipe may be hitting the frame, or like you said a rod knock..
Or there can be detonation which I'm pretty sure is classified as knock and that can be caused by too much boost and not high enough octane..not enough fuel pressure..and maybe even timing?? Not sure about that one..
Someone back me up on this though..

Just found out that it's rod knock caused by a spun bearing. Anybody have a rough estimate on what it would cost to fix?
