my father was interested in restalling his tq converter and the transmission guy said to not go past 2400 because it would over heat the tranny crusing down the highway. the car is an 89 TTA. is this true? i was told that you do not want to get a higher stall then what your crusing speed is on the highway sicne the tq converter will not lock up. so if he wants a higher stall he will have to get steeper gears than his 3:23's?
we are also getting the transmission rebuilt in the GN and get AT LEAST a 2800 stall. will this too cause problems on the highway?
this is all new news to me

I have a 3600 L/U stall with the stock 3.42 gears and havent had a problem sounds to me like hes blowing smoke out his @$$

Your transmission guy is stuck in the 70s. With the mechanical lock-up feature in the 2004R, slippage at highway cruise speeds is non-existent, no matter the stall speed.
