It took some work but I managed to get the shifter height such that I could slide a piece of 1.5mm thick aluminum between the rim of the shifter and over top the stock trim cover for a clean install. I then added the same aluminum over the ash tray and the thin strip next to the console lid to make it all match.
Let me know if you need to see in person and maybe we could get together.

Sorry guys.. but gotta ask..

Is this shifter much better than the B&M offerings?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, just curious. I will need a shifter for a reverse manual TH400 and was looking at B&M.. These just "looks" really cheap (plastic?)

Just curious.. maybe I should be looking at this?

I was planning to get the B&M pro ratchet.

Thx!

The Cheetah shifters are not plastic, they're all metal. The only thing plastic is the Cheetah emblem on the side. The B&Ms feel flimsy compared to the Cheetah.

I tested the B&M shifters and the Cheetah shifter blows them away. With the Cheetah shifters, there is no chance of missing a shift. The detents are the positive.

The shifter is not plastic (other than the T handle) it is powder coated die cast aluminum. It is a gated design that in my opinion is much simpler to use versus the B&M offerings.

Hey Robert. I plan on using the factory trim plate. I made a bracket that will allow me to mount the shifter with the plate in place. I plan on finishing it today. If it works, I'll post pics later.

Alright fellas its in. It can be installed with no gaps just as predicted. Took a little patience and luck I guess.

There was no need to use the bracket that I had made. It made the shifter sit to high. I need to re-adjust the console a little as it is sitting a little crooked. Its not that big of a deal to do.
I have to take it all apart to run the cable, and it looks like I should be able to install it without cutting into the console box. We shall see. I'll keep you guys posted on the progress.

I hear those shifters work really well but they are just plain ugly and I wish they would update the dam thing or change the way it looks all together. It just looks so cheap. Seems to work well tho.

BTW, that set-up looks better then anyones ive ever seen with one of those shifters. I just cant get use to the plastic look. But after looking at yours I seem to like it better then I have in the past.

Thanks for the compliment. I wasn't so crazy about the look either at first but it grows on you because it works so well.

Has anyone thought of having the housing polished out. I think that would make it look 100 times better.....hmmmmm:rolleyes:
