Chris,

Drilled the .060" hole in the governor cover..

Went from a 5200 rpm shift to a 6800+ :o

Damn...

Thing would not shift at low throttle, even with the TV backed WAY off.

Put the un-modded cover back on and things are back to normal.

Question for ya...
Can I slow the band knock-off by using an orifice cup plug in the servo passage?
Still a very slight cut-loose at WOT even though I drilled the 3rd feed holes.

I also used one of your suggestions for the park pawl linkage rod cut-out...

I was wondering how that would affect PT shifts.

What size do you have your 3rd accum. hole in the plate?
Did you remove the checkball & plug it?

The .125 orifice is it next to the plugged hole? If it is and your using the trans co kit {green box}, Bring the .125 hole down to .110 and increase the 3rd feed to .125-.135. Make sure your band clearance is tight too {output shaft should turn both ways}. :D

try it at .040".i hope this doesnt have the transgo performance kit in it or this wont work because they orifice off governor upshift oil and this makes it worse.

look at the mark the checkball leaves in the case.only then can you understand the complexity of this circuit.on montecarloo ss the "AS" code plate there is only a 125"hole.this changes the fluid flow during the upshift by changing the balls placement in the passage during a 2/3 upshift.look at the mark left in a ss monte case .it differs from all other plates with the two holes.too big a hole in the 3rd accumulator in combination with certain other mods will cause a cutlose.the band comes off before the clutches come on sending the transmission back into first gear momentarily.this is not a cutloose but a calibration error in my way of thinking.it will hurt clutches because the drum is spun against the crankshaft s rotation and then in a split second 360 degreese in the opposite direction during this unsynchronized moment in time in which this occurs.

It is the 200-4R HD2 kit, not the green box or the old 2&3 kit.

It doesn't do any mods to the governor circuit (or drill the VB) like the old 2&3 kit does.

It is VERY similar to other kits on the market.

I have compared PTS, all 3 of the TransGo kits, Art Carr, and TCI.

The Transgo and PTS are almsot exactly the same, other than the 4th accum and 2nd accum checkballs, heavier spring in 4th accum in PTS, that's about it.

The Art Carr seems very simple, and hole drilling, checkball placement is similar.

TCI is also similar to the Art Carr.

Lots of the mods are the same end result but sometimes different methods.. (blocking 1-2 accum with plate, housing, piston, or just partially limiting fluid).

I may try a smaller hole on the governor later on Chris, think I'll start at .015" :)

What is the typical effect on part throttle shifts with this mod?

2-3 cutloose is a calibration problem.

Blackplague,
Not the green box kit but, I originally went with the instructions as stated in TransGo's kit, various sizing of orifices but .110" as you state on the band knock-off hole, and .086 for the 3rd feed IIRC.
I drilled the 3rd feed to .125 and the 3rd accum too.. Shoulda left the accum hole alone...

Plan is to go back and install a new seperator with some changes along the lines here.

Band clearance is good. will recheck after it gets a couple of easy miles on it...

It is there

Ck your in box.

Have a Merry Christmas.

I forgot to add: If you need the 2 extra springs that the kit doesn't have, call me and i'll get them right out to you.:D
