Thats the first I have seen that. I know Alfa Romeo is going to rebuild the viper platform which is where the stabilty system comes from but the front and rear of the car did not look like a viper.
There is also rumors of masarati and ferrari building the next chrysler super car. That would be interesting.

the whole point of a Viper is that it's a down and dirty basic car with an insane power to weight ratio and no driver aids to cover up for a lousy driver- it was the modern version of the Cobra.
it was based on the Dodge Dakota front suspension with an aluminum version of the new Ram V10 engine, and it didn't have ABS, traction control, or even side windows that rolled up. and it had actual honest to goodness sidepipes that burned your legs when you got out of the car..

over the years, they've made it more and more "civilized" and added all sorts of things that do nothing but add weight, and now that article says that it will go for a more traditional "supercar" look.. they should really just retire the "Viper" nameplate and call it something else..

Thank the government for killing everything you liked about the viper.

To tell you the true (I know I'm going to be shot for this) this also killed everything appealing about the Miata, although Mazda did that themselves. It was a stripped down, two seater roadster that hearkened back to 60's era British sports cars. A true "drivers" experience.
