ck direct piston question

Does the forward drum have to be ground down to use CKs direct piston? I am sure he told me when I bought it, but its been a while.

There are 2 part #s .1 with groove and 1 without for our custom forward drum.Give me a ring and let me know what type you have.631 218 1989

I didn't get a chance to call in yesterday. I have the piston without a groove.
