I'm installing the CK T-brake and shift kit and got to the part where I have to install the lo overrun clutch valve spring. There's no spring in the box that's labeled as such, but there was one bag with a spring that was in an unlabeled bag. It appears to be larger and stiffer than the stock spring and I could force it in the hole, but it just seems wrong. Of course, it's the 4th and Chris is not open. Anyone installed this kit and remember what the spring looked like?

Thanks!

Its a tight wound unit,Install it first then the valve.
It essentially locks the valve in place

Great! I'll give it another shot in the morning. If it practically locks the valve in place, then I guess it's the right one. Thanks!

So, how much force does it take to get this assembly back in place? The spring diameter doesn't seem to allow the spring to set against the back pin. I have tried compressing the whole assembly back in with a C-clamp and wind up about an 1/8" too long to be able to get the expansion pin back in the slot. This can't be right.

Is this the manual transbrake kit? let us know how you make out, I have the same kit waiting to go in however I missed my appointment so it has to wait a couple of weeks. Want to know how to expect.

It JUST fits and is a little tough going in all the way.
You sure your doing the correct valve?

Yes, I'm very sure it's the right valve. There are only 2 valves with the large drift pins and the picture in the instructions is quite clear. After fussing with it about 20+ times I finally gave up. I think I narrowed it down to the valve bore plug in back of the drift pin. I can push the valve in far enough to allow clearance for the plug, but when I try to install the plug it only goes in just so far (maybe 3/16" left to go and it won't budge). So, I can't get the drift pin in. It almost seems like the plug is going in cocked and since it's aluminum it gouges and won't go further.

I just need to know the technique for getting that plug to go in straight against all that spring force. If that indeed is the correct spring then nobody can get the plug in without a compression tool of some sort (press or clamp).

Thanks for the answers! Please keep them coming. If I don't get it on the road tomorrow, I'll miss Turbo Thunder.

The lug does have a step on the outer side,Find a bolt or something that fits in the step and use it to push.
The first one i did was tough also.but it went.
Is it definetly a BRF valve body?
Others may be different

Yeah, I used a small socket to push and still couldn't get it in far enough. I'll try a bolt in the step. Good idea as that would give clearance to get the drift pin in if I get it in far enough.

It's a BR3 valve body. What is that?

Yes, it's the old stage right, manual brake (engaged in 1st gear). Provided I get this thing figured out on the install, I'll let you know how it works. I'm anxious to see for myself. The rest of the kit was a breeze, as was the non lock up valve switchout (I did that separately). You might want to let your installer know that the CK Performance package comes with a pressure regulator change kit as well, but the instructions don't mention it at all. My $130 Helms manuals finally came in handy.

A BR3 would be the correct turbo Valve body
