Ok,
The car is an '87 T. Just started making noise two days ago. Haven't noticed any difference in performance. At first I thought it was the little intercooler fan hitting the intercooler supports, but I checked and that was ok. I think it might be the compressor. The pulley looks a little wobbly on it. What's it sound like when the compressor starts to go? Noise seems to change with rpms too. Anyone? Thanks in advance.

You might try.....

to remove the serpentine belt and start the engine to see if you can still hear it. If so, check your crank pulley, it may be coming loose or worse, too much end play in the crank! If not, re-install the belt and disconnect the compressor connector, and start it again. and of course there is always the usual problem of the idler! It costs about $15.00 at the auto parts store.

Take a look at the very bottom of the A/C compressor housing and I'll bet you'll probably find a loose or missing bolt down there. Very common
