Clicked on something I shouldn't have and now no matter what I do this page comes up as my home page in Internet Explorer.

ttp://t.swapx.cc/h.php?aid=20009 I deleted the h from the beginning of it so it doesn't appear as a link. I have reset my home page numerous times but this page always appears. What can I do to get rid of it?????

You got hit with a some spyware stuff. I think they call it home page redirect or something. I got hit with the same stuff earlier this year. Do a search on here and you will find the software to get rid of it. There is a website that you can download the software for free.

Mark, every time one of my kids messes with my computer, I get some weird new "addition" to my browser...SOMETIMES, a whole new program gets installed that has to be UNinstalled, so you might want to check the add/remove programs section and see if you have any new browser 'upgrades'.

Already did that but it wouldn't change it!

This morning I did a system restore and it worked. Going to run adware again just to try and clear everything out. Last night a popup window came up and instead of closing it out I clicked that I wanted to change the site to my home page and bam!

Sometimes I hate the internet.

We had this same thing happened and this best thing I found was by going to Microsoft and downloading a free version they supply for removing spyware and adware. It is called Ad-Aware SE. It will scan your complete pc and isolate all these programs and them eliminate them. The computer guy we wasted $600 on told me this was call "about blank" and defaults your home page to something other than your chosen page.
Good luck with it all. I know what a pain it is and just how unsafe these things are even when completely protected.

It's probably not spyware, but rather a Trojan that hit you. Spyware programs probably won't get it. You need CWShredder. It literally shreds the homepage hijackers.

Get it here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

If you have Windows XP, you shouldn't need to do anything but download this and run it. Takes care of 99% of the problems that spyware-killers miss.

To prevent this in the future, stay off the xxx sites. That's where 99.9999% of this type of stuff comes from. The other from emails we sometimes inadvertently open.

Good luck.

I second the CWSShredder thingy. Same thing happened to me a while back and the shredder worked for the home page hijacker.

"Stay off the XXX sites"....... yeah right.:D

Yep, Ad-Aware is probably the best solution to this. If you're still having problems with it after trying Ad-Aware PM me.

Best solution is a new browser, you wont be sorry.

Mozilla firefox.

The problem with system restore is you didn't elimante the offending program. It will rear it's ugly head again I bet.
