Can't decide between just wiring the flapper shut or making a plate to block it off. I'd just get a new downpipe, but I plan on eventually going 4 bolt after I do some back to back testing of stock headers and aftermarket to see what the merits are on a low 10 high 9 car. SO, I don't wanna buy a new downpipe since it won't be permanant.

So, wire it? (kinda halfass but should work)
Or cut a plate (possibility of leaks and spacing the DP 1/8 out. Not alot but it just barely fits as is)

Make a plate young Jedi.

The really lazy thing to do is to just leave the actuator on with the rod as short as possible. Hey, it's "stock appearing" :-).

I found a freeze plug that fit and put it in and tacked it with the welder.

I've used an old actuator bracket and put a bolt to it.. tighten the bolt to make sure it's 100% sealed...

Also.. i think RJC might already make a thin plate to block it off. cost $$ though.. old bracket cheaper.

my car isn't even running yet, but I'm considering going to a 0.96ar 4 bolt. just free power out there to be had.

I think I'll just do that. It will take me an hour to cut one out of steel probably, and it wouldn't be stainless.

I thought the 4-bolt turbos used a different outlet and DP anyway ???

Please forgive my ignorance, as this is my first build, but I replaced my stock DP and actuator with a 3" externally gated ATR pipe. Am I correct in understanding that the wastegate hole needs to be plugged/blocked off?

Not for you. You are fine

I don't understand. Why am I good and Stu isn't? His external gate is of a different design?

Look at this pic and compare it to your car. See where his exhaust is bled off at in comparison to yours? It yours need to to through the hole in the turbo to reach the valve, his is routed a different way. It bleeds off before it enters the turbine housing to reach the valve.
