With all the fuss in the years past about the stock intake being so problematic about flowing equally to all cylinders I'd hope that EVERYONE that has alky also has a power plate. Even then, it's not guaranteed that the flow pattern of the alky spray is evenly distributed to all cylinders. Something to think about.
Yes to all this and ill add that increasing the plenum volume helps a lot in cars going over 5500rpm. It slows down the airflow to allow more even distribution.

I think this is definately worth looking at . I run the plate. I've also wondered what happens when the alcohol mist hits the plate. Three things come to mind. Alky on or alky off I have the plate. Alky on or alky off I don't see spark retard. Who's running alcohol, without blowing head gaskets, and using the plate?

I know of 5 local TB guys that have alky and no head gasket issues. All run power plates too, some before alky was added some after.

subscribing... interesting stuff.

I'm running 100 no lead and a dual nozzle SMC kit on Torco methanol.

Ditto, except I have an old-school SMC kit. I think the 100 octane adds a little more insurance than running 93 pump gas with the alky. Last time out my alky pump failed and I ran 2 runs with TONS of knock before I realized what was going on. I'm not blaming anyone - it is a VERY old kit that I did not lubricate like I should. On the other hand, my Walbro 340 failed last year but the consequence of that is that the car simply won't go any faster. I don't know what Dan the Man did to my engine with regard to head gaskets but I've done some pretty stupid things and haven't had any trouble (knock on wood).

I guess my point is it depends on how much risk you want to take. 93 and alky will work fine if it's tuned right but you have very little room for error. The new kits have proven very effective and reliable but the added insurance of higher-octane fuel can't hurt.

If I turn it on,it starts making noise at 5 lbs when the system turns on.

Then you stop at 6 PSI.. and get it to run cleanly. Change the chip.. change the ECM.. plug gaps??? But without changes.. if it starts popping/fluttering at 5 PSI.. you take it to 20+ PSI.. its going to lift a head.

If your lifting 80 lbs off the floor and your back starts to give you problems.. you dont go and try 200 lbs see if it feels better.. cuase you'll be in traction at a hospital. Figure out why 80 lbs makes it hurt.. fix that.. work up to 100.. then 140.. then 180.. then 200..

Have you tried a different chip? Sure is a lot cheaper than a HG replacement.

Ttype6, if you need to borrow a modded ecm for low imp injectors.. let me know. I have one I can lend you. I cant help with a spare MAF.

But I bet anything you put on a stock MAF, Tweak chip, and stock ECM.. your problems will vanish faster than I can type this.

I have run the ME-r in my own car and had fantastic results. It did take more than a few chip revisions to get it right.. Steve was always more than helpful.. it also helped I had my own chip burner and Steve would email me the .bin files so I could burn my own. So I understand what it takes to make the ME-r work with alky.. its not for the novice. Dont take this the wrong way.

A lot of our cars will run fantastic at 10:1 air fuel.. but you throw alcohol in.. it drops to 8.5:1.. and thats where the problem begins.. as the motor chokes trying to get the fuel out.. then boom.. goes the head gasket. And your gaskets were pushed not burned through.. I bet this too.

I ran a Tweak chip before I got my T67but it was for 009s. I wouldn't be aposed to trying one for my 60s. They give me all the fuel I need. I also had steve make several revisions to my chip. It wasn't too bad of a proccess becuase he only lives 6 minutes away from me. Im' currently running the ME.The noise that I'm talking about can only be heard after the gasket is blown, but it starts the instant the alky comes on. The last time I messed with the alky I discovered that no matter how low I turned it down( very low initial and no gain) it was pumping way too much alky so there's something wrong with my kit. I've been too involved in other things to send it back to you. I won't give up. I'm too stupid too do that and I'm not afraid of changing head gaskets. I want more than anything to be able to run alcohol successfuly. After I buy this house and send my daughter off to college. THAKS jULIO.

replacement.
Im stuck at 720 lbs Julio:biggrin: . How can i get up to 800lbs? My back doesnt hurt but anything over 720 is glued to the floor. Great point on that post. If it isnt right then fix it before you go further and really break it.

For those that inquired i run a PP and a plenum spacer with alky injected about 8 inches before the TB.
