you could probably get a used stock headgasket to seal up with some silicone and copper spray .....but why would you if everything is apart. Im not sure who would be qualified to look at a cometic headgasket and give the stamp of approval for reuse.

update the poping was a vacume bad leak and i drined my coolent it looked good as far as rusing my comitics they looked fine when i installed them they wher not bent of showing any sgin of leaking

Yes, cometics are metal head gaskets that are reusable, lots of info available with a search.

For the search challenged

I reused a set when I had the cam debockle .I installed dry 1 st time and dry 2nd time ,ran the car (heated and cooled with no water 3 times for about 5 minutes .Let it cool and filled the water jackets no leaks .The first time didnt do this and it leaked out the back of the head until I installed the pellets 2nd time no pellets

if the cometics arent wrinkled (like when they get blown) id reuse them and have even on head change

yours not being run i see no problem with reusing them since they really arent even used .
as for the copper spray , carefully remove the gaskets and spray them again and if any copper spray stuck on the block wipe the block clean with lacquer thinner

we have coated the Cometics, used them out of the box, and reused them on different cars over the past year.. Ya I had 3 or 4 jobs (way to much work for me !!) Also used the GM pellets with them.. We never had a leak:wink: I know I know they suck..they leak ..maybe time to just sell the car and move on
