what can be some problems and solutions for fixing a cruise control? i checked fuses and ran new vacuum lines for it. dont think it matters but checked the plug for voltage while pushing the button to turn it on but car was in park anybody have any advice on what to do

cruise problem

board member 'UnderdogGN' (tim) had the same problem. he found that it was the switch on the brake pedal. he adjusted the position of the switch and solved the problem. contact tim for any specific questions you may have and i'm sure he will be glad to assist.

Make sure when the pedal is up as in your foot off the brake the pedal arm completely closes the cruise switch.

It has two cutoff mechanisms one for vacuum and one for electrical wiring.

The switch allows the cruise to work when the pedal is up if the switch is loose or moved it may think you are on the brake all the time shutting off the system.

just adjusted the switch on the brake pedal arm and will go test it out in a lil bit. should there be a plastic nut on the threads?

no its adjustable( lightly push towards pedal arm). is the cruise indicator light up when trying to set cruise?

look under dash/column(pull lower cover with vent and two 7mm screws).look for a ribbon cable coming from turn signal stalk.there will be a pink, grey, blue and another wire?together in what looks like a phone connector. one should show ign +,one will be + when stalk/cruise is turned on, one + push resume button, one + push decel/coast button. does the switch do all the above??

Break arm switch

no cruise light came on and still didnt work

You might get under there with a tester and and make sure the contacts are indeed closed. The switch can be removed and taken apart to clean the contacts if necessary. I had to do mine like that. The contacts where not letting current through. There is aslo a plunger with a o-ring for the vacuum side of the switch. I put a dab of grease on that.

just my $.02 Good luck.
