cruise control not working

wondering some advice. when setting my cruise, the light comes on, but it doesnt do anything, then blows the fuse shortly after. any advice on what to do first? the unit itself or the turn signal stalk, or something else? thanks

I have a similar problem. My light comes ON but nothing happens. Someone said here on the Board that it could be the Brake Switch that is defective. Check it out...

The cruise control will not activate at all with a bad brake switch, the light will not turn on either...If the fuse is blowing I would start checking wiring, or swap a know good unit off a friends car and see if it works..

Most likely shorted broken wiring in the cruise switch stalk down to the connector under the dash.

Maybe the cruise control module box itself, but I would check the stalk wires first.

Ohmmeter and break the connection under the dash and you can troubleshoot the switch.
