I just snapped off the plastic clip on my TPS!!! :( What the hell?!

The plastic was so brittle I barely tugged on the thing to get it free and it snapped off the sensor like a twig!!

Not the second either,... tried being gentle,.... but barely pried up on the IAC sensor clip to undo it and snapped that one TOO !!!

DAMMIT!!!

Am I the only person who's slowly (fast in my case) snapping the retainers on all the sensor plugs?! Is there a place to get new plastic plugs???

As it stands right now I need an IAC and a TPS plug.

I hate the look of tie wraps to hold the sensors on!!!!

:(

it is somewhat normal. the radiant heat from the engine and turbo dries out the plastic making it very brittle.(it does the same to the vacuum lines) or may be your streching them to far go to the junk yard or caspers ele. sells all those connectors

Yea,...I'll look into getting some new ones,.... just kind of a bummer is all. Was all happy after getting the thing idling/running great and I go and break two of the friggin connectors!

:(

Thanx for the link to Caspers guys.
Great site.

I'l stop by belly aching. I just ordered both the IAC connector and the TPS.

(Wondering the hell I'm going to face getting the pins out)

:p

They make a little tool to assist in getting the pins out, usually there's a little tab that just catches on the plastic connector, the tool slips in the back of the connector, on the side the wires are coming out of, and depresses the tab and the wire will slide right out. Sometimes a tiny flat head screw driver will work.
Anytime I'm at the junk yard, I always pick up a few of the TPS, IAC and the green MAP sensor plugs for my LT motors, and the same TPS and IAC work on the GN too. They break easy on every car, even those non-turbo cars that are only a few years old.

i'm always breaking stuff too. almost all the plastic conduit ove rthe wires is chiping up, the plastic vacume lines are always breaking, havn't had any problems with connectors yet though. i'll be carefull.

Those things are sold at autoparts stores. NAPA, Autozone, Advance.. they all have the TPS connector. The IAC may or may not have.

HTH

summit racing has a kit has everything like $30 lots of parts in it

you can get most connectors, along with wiring and terminals from your local GM dealer. just cut and splice with the included weather proof butt connectors. you crimp them, then heat the connector, and the connector shrinks and glue flows out to seal the connection. there's also plenty of wire included so you can extend your harness to prevent stretching.
