I would like to install a deep pan on my trans. Anyone got suggestions of what type to go with and which of our vendors has the best price on one? I want to be able to run the 700r4 filter without doing any mods. Also, thinking about a shift kit but not a race one. Thanks,

There're Cast Aluminum and fabricated Sheet Al. pans. None are designed to use the 700R4 filter.
All the Cast pans have the Stands in the bottom to support the 2004R filter, but can be ground down to use the 700R4 filter.
The Fabbed Sheet pans use other types/brands of bottom feed Filters.
CK has a Spacer kit to use a 700R4 filter with the stock 2004R pan.

For a Valvebody kit, CK's would be a good choice for Steet/Strip use.

I prefer the cast aluminum pans myself. Kirban sells the Art Carr pan and its a good piece. I have been using the 700r4 filter for almost two seasons now with no modifications, and no problems. The sheet metal ones tend to leak from what Ive seen personally. Just make sure you use a good gasket and torque the bolts to spec.

Thanks for the info SSedan64 and ScoJak! It will help me in finding what I need for my car(s). Being an avid Mopar(and gm n/a cars) guy for so many years, this is new to me figuring out what I need to do to make my TR's faster and better! Have a good day all.......

oops almost forgot you will have to insulate the top of the pressure switch to prevent contact with the metal rim on the filter.

I have been selling the Hughes pan since they used my car for the prototype unit years ago, and all I sell have the 700 filter.

i made my 4" deep pan and use a pts xtrems strainer

I just ordered the Hughes pan last night and I saw that it came with the 700 filter. Price was just under $200. I am going to wait on the shift kit until I check my stash at the shop, I think I have a B&M Shift improver kit or a Transpak that I bought in 1995 and never used.

Right! I saw one picture of a trans pan that came with a short wire with a terminal end that was covered on one side and only open on the side that clipped on the switch. I think I can locate one of those ends at the parts store.

Got mine Wednesday and it came with the 700R4 filter.

Nice, :)I guess they finally changed it, as about everyone uses a 700R4 filter with the Deep pans.
I also noticed in the new Pic, the Stands in the bottom of the Pan look shorter than the old Pic w/2004R filter.

I didn't open the skin packaging that it is in yet, but I will have to check that.

I just talked with Hughes about the pan and filter.

We will have pans in stock next week, and all they send out now will have a TH 200-R4 filter. On the next batch, the pan will be modified with shorter stands so no mods will be needed for the 700 filter, and they will only supply a 700 filter.

In the mean time, all the pans I ship will have the 700 filter. :)
