After running DS for years with a windows 3.1 laptop I upgraded to a newer Dell Latitude (about 4 years old)with Windows 2000. I would get bogus MAF numbers, phantom trouble codes, and increasing MPH numbers while in park. I downgraded to WIN98 and still have the same issues. Any ideas?

Because DS will not operate on the newer version of windows. The newest version of window that it's compatable with is WIN98 so I"m not sure why you would still be having the same issues. Sounds like it may be a connection issue. The connector on the ECM can be pushed on too far and cause issues.

Connections are good. A search showed someone deleating and then reinstalling the printer port. Afterward the DirectScan ran fine. Any computer gurus out there that can tell me how to do it the right way?

really early versions of DS required a "fully compatible" parallel port. Many laptops were not compatible.

DS got redesigned (new hardware) to fix this.

This all happened the first year DS was out.
