Do fuel pumps still moan when they're dead?

My DD started one minute....then not the next. I sprayed some started fluid and it kept it going for a very short time so I'm guessing spark isn't the issue. Then I pulled the fuel line from the rail and primed the pump a couple times and nothing came out. Gotta be the fuel pump right? The fuel pump makes noise...just not very loud and I have no idea what it sounded like before compared to now

Nope..They just lay there with their eyes closed....
No FP is a good sign that a look in the tank is in line, once the electrical system is confirmed to be GTG. Low volts can make the pump turn, but not do much else...

The "DD" is?

Check your filter

Nice suggestion....I'll crawl under there tomorrow when the heat wave hits...I'm starting to think I got water in my tank and my fuel lines froze. Hopefully it hits the 35 degrees they're saying its going to be so I can check that off my check list. If that doesn't work I'll yank the fuel filter off. What's the best method of checking if it's clogged....just blow in one end and see if any air makes it out the other side?

Turned out to be the fuel pump....I swear I heard the prick making noise the other day, but the truck makes an ungodly loud buzzing noise when you put the key in and the truck is not started. I god under there good today and cycled the key and got nothing. It took way more time and work than I'm going to mention to figure this out   :D

Murphy lives there??

Murphy isn't done with me yet....It ran good for only a couple days....I've tried to get her running right, but gave up and took her to a shop. Then that shop gave up too...then the next shop gave up. Tomorrow is reckoning day though....I've read up and have quite the checklist to go through. She will be brought back to life...o yes she will be back to life
