My car handles great with the 20" wheels and current shocks and springs. And I have been hi 10's with it and I have cut the best of a 1.57 60 ft with current set up. But I want to see if I can lift the front with the trans brake and say 15 lbs. Would the sway bar inhibit me that much by being there? also this is with the skiny and fatty weld drag set up not the 20's of course.. dduurr

Hi,
That has got to be the dumbest post I have read in a while. You are kidding, right? This must be a joke. Are you mentally mastur- you know what?
20 inch rims aint gonna FUNCTIONALLY fit on any G body, I don't care what size rubberbands you put on for tires. This Gangsta crap needs to stop; don't f up MY cars: pick your own Asian crap., and screw that up. Preludes, Accords,Camrys, ETC. Go for it, but not MY cars. Understand? I have spoken....

Tantrums, cranky ?? You need a nap!!

Lift restricted

Leaving at 15 pounds off a trannybrake ought to lift her up if not, you can go back to pits and remove bar then give it another go. That would be great if you can get your 60 down to 1.49-1.5 and the same time Houston we have lift off!;)

I would say yes that it does make a pretty big difference. My car cut a 1.500 60' a couple of weeks ago on drag radials with the only susp. mods being a right rear air bag and the front sway bar removed. I launched it at 8 psi off the foot brake on the 1.50 pass and lauched it at 10 psi on the next run and it hooked and went until the axle let go about 2 lenghts out. I am confident that it would have gotten in the high 1.4's if the axle would have held up. It cut low 1.60's and an ocasional 1.59 before I removed the sway bar.

I do not know if this helps at all but one of my buddies runs 10.30's with the front sway bar. I asked him the very same question about a year ago and he told me that he removed it once and hated the car without it. As mentioned above you may want to experiment at the track and see what your thoughts are.
By the way he ran stock upper and lower control arms however he had air bags in the rear. If memory serves he ran 7 pounds on the left and 14 on the right. That setup gave him consistent 1.45 60 foot times.
Hope this gives a little insight.

I hope so. But it doesnt look like it since one is from TX and the other from AL. I thought people in TX like things "big". And how ironic, he calls the guys post the "dumbest post" he's ever seen, then goes and makes a "dumber" reply..... Sure hope he was joking but either way he has his "freedom of speech" which people like me and others have fought for to keep his right.

Know I do not know this guy! I am headed to the track this wed. night and I thought I would get some suggestions not some flap about my wheels. This guy needs to see some regals in Atlanta with 26's makes mine look factory. With above "positive" coments I am gonna remove SB to see if i can catch some air and maybe lower 60 for maybe a faster time! Thanks to all who replied ..

I'm not as fast as you are however I ended up putting my front bar back on for drivability around town and some occasional curvy country roads. I didn't care for the drivability without the front bar. Heck, I ended up going with the hollow 36mm front F-body bar to boot. A lot of people run a huge rear bar and no front bar. This worked ok but I got sick of it after a while. I like to have fun driving home from the track too, not just the 1/4 mile. My 60 foot times suck however I make it up on the top end... ;)

I could feel my car get on the DR's better after I removed my f/swaybar. My car is low with drag shocks all the way around. I haven't taken it to the track yet so I can't tell you how much it improved but both of my cars don't have front sway bars.

Hi,
I have calmed down a bit,but the point stands. 20 inch wheels are not gonna cut it if you want to do normal driving things like parking in a tight spot, etc. YOU need to get rational about these things. I'm sorry I blew up, but I can't apologize for what I believe is the truth. It's your car, but I think you have a legacy here, so it would be nice if you treated it as such. Good luck with YOUR choices.

I dont see how 20" rims would be irrational. If you ever look at Chip Foose's cars when he re-makes older vehicles, most of the time he willl use 18",19" and 20" rims to set an aggressive stance and increase handling. Now going bigger than 20" is not my taste but if its your car and you like it then go right ahead. But I have seen some nice GN's with 20" rims. Hey to each his own.

You can put 20's on these cars and do what ever you want to with it.... As long as the overall diameter of tire does not exceed X you are fine!

Furthermore please don't jump into some one's post like that, the question didn't even involve the wheels!

Car looks great man I am a big fan of the big and little tire setup.15x6 up front and 15x7 in the rear 295/50/15.I think the gn's look great with 20's why do so many people dislike it soo much everyone has there own taste there is a limit on wheels that are too big.All these custom car designers use big wheels so why can't gns roll with them?Oh yeah if you have 20's on your car you can't park in tight spots????LOL

My car is slower than most of you guys, but my car handled terribly without the front sb.
Btw, the 20's look great

YANK THAT FRONT SWAY BAR OFF! You will lose about 30 lbs of weight off the front of the car, and if you have an upgraded REAR sway bar (ATR, HR, etc) it will handle just fine on the street. Who drives these cars for handling anyways? Didn't think so...the car will weight transfer SO much better if you take the front bar off...not to mention it looks cleaner in the engine bay too especially if you get a front mount IC.
