Door handle gasket install?

Any experts out there?

I put new door handles on my car after new paint. There is a plastic "wrap around" "gasket" that helps keep water out of the door that is viewable underneath the outer door handle.

When I buttoned it back up, the door handle is as stiff as can be and has lost it's "springy-ness".

Is there an adjustment for this?

Anyone out there messed with this before?

Sounds like it's on backwards. Had similar trouble with mine. Try turning them around. They are a must have. Without them you can see right into the door. Looks real bad w/o them.

You were right on! I finally gave in since I dont have time to mess with it... my bodyshop confirmed what you said. I had it on backwards.
