Drain tube torque spec

According to my documentation, the torque spec is 20 ftlbs.
At this value with high temp silicone and calibrated wrench, the brand new gasket rips.
"Good n' tight" leaks , surfaces are pretty straight and clean.

What number do you use?

What type of gasket are you using?

Are you using stock bolts?...if not I would try to use a washer to add some surface area.

I have always just snugged them with some silicone...no issues.

Used the RJC gasket, with a washer.
Luckily, I typically order 2 gaskets.

Here are the results :tongue:;
The first time, the assembly was with the "high temp silicone" (Orange stuff)
Second gasket/try, I used "The Right Stuff" and it seems to work, at the "good N' tight" spec.

Did a few small independent non-scientific tests between the two silicones, and application techniques, and noticed some interesting differences.
