Dyno'd the car last night. How does 606.6hp at the rear wheels grab ya? :D TPro did it's job big time. First pull on an easy tune netted 484hp. Next pull I raised timing to 24º and boost to 26psi and that put out a very nice 590hp. Third pull, I tweaked the AFR to 11.3 bumped timing up to 26º and boost to 28psi. Then commenced to crank out 606.6hp at the rear wheels, 705ft/lbs of torque. Everybody there was stunned!!! Out of 20 cars there, of which 3 were all out tube chasis race cars, the Buick reined supreme last night. No one got closer than 516hp.

But there's also bitter sweet. The last pull the car twisted the driveshaft in two!! Taking out the Y pipe and both yolks I guess I found out that power like that and a stock driveshaft do not mix very well!! Dyno slip and carnage are in the pics below. The short end is the tranny end, it was definitly making some power!!

I guess those DYNOMAX mufflers really work. :D

Great job

They, IMHO, are the best sounding and flowing mufflers anyone can put on these cars. Too bad I wont be hearing them for a while ;) you know, the Y -pipe and all

Maybe you should get one of those mondo downpipes and do a back to back dyno test. You're definetely making the power for it.

I'd love to give one a try, $$$ is the issue right now though. It's looking like $400 for a durable drieveshaft and another $200 or so for yolks. I guess the bigger the bomb, the bigger the damage. But it could have been alot worse.

I've got video of it happening  looks like I hit the James Bond switch and fired a missle from under the car

Donnie,

Looking good bro.
May I see a bigger picture of the dyno sheet?

Thanks in advance.

Ewwwww fuc that sucks that your driveshaft broke. Your lucky you werent going down the road when it went south.

Awesome numbers there bud, man, 6&7 sounds pretty fair to me!!!!

I might be able to use one of the mufflers if its not fubar... Mine got messed up in a different scenerio.
Where is the video?

The mufflers are still good so I'm gonna hang on to them and try to get another y pipe. I'm working on getting the vid transfered over from Hi8.

John, I'll send you a bigger dyno chart.

Nice power, sucks about the driveshaft.

What specific Dynomax's are you talking about being good? I'm trying to pick mufflers for the custom set-up I'm doing.

They are the Walker Dynomax Welded Ultra Flo Race Magnums ( heck of a long name for a muffler, huh? lol )

Donnie, you can get a really nice driveshaft from www.dennysdriveshaft.com with 1350 u Joints and billet yokes for around $650.Its there NITROUS READY LINE and they garuntee the welds for life.

Any word on that Trans Pro mounting bracket? ;)

Still working on gathering the material for the bracket. We used steel shim from my cousin's weld/machine shop, problem is they are no longer using that and he's having a hard time coming up with something cost effective to use. They make bus chasis' and it's went to all stainless steel and it is alot more expensive. I've not forgot you though :)

Nice numbers. How much hp do you think you had in the 124mph run in your sig? I have a very similar build to yours except i dont have the TA headers and i was wondering what i have to look forward to with some tuning.

Great numbers, Donnie. Too bad about the driveshaft - been there, myself. Bam-bam-bam! Word of caution: my tranny got hurt (major hard part breakage) when my driveshaft let loose. You may want to get it checked out. Hope you dodge that bullet, though.

Was that Y pipe handmade or an off the shelf unit ?
What is the diameter of the piping ?
I've got a terrible drone & am looking for ideas.
Thanks

The run in my sig wasn't a clean pass and was running TH headers instead of the TA's. 60' that pass was only 1.64 on a 5-6psi launch. Had a flair at th 2-3 and didn't lock the converter. Not to mention that I had way too much fueling dialed into the TPro and the WB couldn't pull enough fuel out since the lean limit was only 10%. So I'd be afraid to guess what hp that run was. But the tune I had for the 606hp pull I believe would go a 10.1x or so if it had a clean launch and good shift. Here's the video of my 10.87 run http://www.bailey-eng.com/vids/10.87 @ 124mph.wmv

I hope the tranny isn't hurt too bad, but funny thing is I was intending on pulling the trans for a freshen up 2 weeks ago until my buddy invited me to the dyno shootout. So I just postponed it. At least I wont have to worry about taking the driveshaft out to pull it :D

The exhaust is from Full Throttle and is 2¾" aluminized. Very nice and priced really well, and sounds great. They used to sell th y-pipe and tail pipes seperatly.....I hope they still do.
