I understand ethanol will have completely different emissions value...no hydro carbons or carbon monoxide ....Burned ethanol makes water vapor and carbon dioxide,i was told.....Just wondering what happens at inspection when the typical smog test shows nothing? The bozos in my state will fail you because your car doesnt register,i am guessing, but i can surely see it happening. Anyone deal with this yet?

I'm going to re-phrase this...anyone with an E85 car have,or know of, any issues at DMV regarding the tail pipe emissions test. Thanks.

Your car will need to me in a good state of tune because Ethanol is still a hydrocarbon based fuel. However the numbers will be lower using it and you should pass the sniff test fairly easy if again the car is in a good state of tune. Just running a 50/50 mix used to drop the numbers pretty good.

thanks guys....I've been wondering how the sniff test would go with e85 and hollow cat?
