In the CK manual page 114 it states "Also if the engine produces in excess of 400 hp the shift cushioning effect of the 1-2 accumulator assembly should be deleted".

Later in the same paragraph it states in so many words to plug off the oil feed hole in the 1-2 housing.

The purpose of the deletion of the 1-2 piston/spring (if I'm understanding correctly) is to alter the cushioning effect of the 1-2 shift.

I believe my engine produces in excess of 400 hp, so should the 1-2 accumulator piston and spring be deleted??

Anyone else done these modifications? I sure will appreciate any and all replies.

The car is street driven and will be raced hard on the weekends.

TIA
HOW

when blocking off the feed hole the spring and piston arent used.we dont like to eliminate the spring and piston but a loose converter with high power usually will kill the feel of the 1/2 shift especially with a high (3200 and up) stall 9 11 converter that is very inefficient in the hydraulic coupling department with high boost.if you have time to experiment with feed hole sizes at above 400 hp it is wiser to use the spring and piston imo unless you cant get satisfactory 1/2 shifts at all throttle angles/

It depends alot on your converter. If you are using a 12in, or stock size converter you probably will not be happy with the results. As this will make the shift very firm, probably boarderline uncomfortable.
If you have any other converter, 10in, Vig, 9/11, I would do the accumulator delete mod and not look back.

Brian, do you do these mods on your trannies? I ask because I am saving to have you build me one and should have a 400+ hp car... if not then I must have one poorly tuned car.

You are correct...heck a GN with a chip almost makes that! :D
That mod is done to nearly every unit we do.
