Anybody know what this is. This engine only has 3 miles on it.

Looks like a pan full of bearing material and quite possible a bunch of moly along with a severley wiped out thrust bearing with a very odd pattern to it). Is there a layer of gray goo like cake batter on the bottom of the pan?
 
Yes Earl I believe there is a grayish color matter at the bottom. It had good oil pressure from the beginning. It has a high volume pump. When I drove it down the road the pressure went way down at idle.

How were the bearing clearances measured?

What were the clearances?

What was the endplay on the crank as it was assembled?

If you had this engine built/ assembled, Ask the builder those questions.

If you don't get good answers, he didn't measure and you found the real problem.
 
how are the cam lobes?is it a flat tappet cam? did it get run in at 2000+ rpm for 20 minutes before any idling?

Looks like you got double whammy'd with that engine. If that grey goop is Moly you most likely have a clogged oil filter. That will kill your oil pressure at idle by itself. The bearing clearances opening themselves up will obviously do it as well. Like I said earlier, it appears the bearing wear was VERY odd on the picture you posted. I'm wondering if the bearing shell was sitting funny or a bend crank or something like that.

Did you build this engine yourself? I have to guess that if a shop would have built it, you wouldn't have taking apart yourself.

Since you have it apart, do this test if you had a flat tappet cam. Take all the lifters, wipe of the bottom and set them on a piece of glass. They should have a slight wobble as they bottoms are supposed to be slightly convex. If they sit flat, pull out all the galley plugs and knock out the cam bearings, the blocks got to be cleaned.
 
The motor was built years ago by Whites Racing I was told it had been dynoed already. I am in the south in Louisiana. Who could I send it to?
